that maybe 2012 will be the year that the elephant in the room, OFFSHORING AMERICAN JOBS, and the perks which companies get for doing so, will finally get a spotlight thrown upon it:

Here's something that President Obama laid out in his State of the Union that I think deserves special attention:

Under current law, American companies can actually get a tax deduction for outsourcing jobs.

That's the opposite of how it should work. President Obama proposes to end tax deductions for outsourcing, create a
new tax credit for bringing jobs home, and lower tax rates for companies that manufacture and create jobs in the United States.

If you think this should be a priority during this campaign, it's up to you to speak out. Support the President and spread the word:

Some of the people (political board) do not recognize this. They keep talking about the tax rate for businesses the highest in the world and don't seem to understand that the president wants to lower it for companies doing business here in the US.

This would be wonderful if his policies didn't make it MANDATORY for doctors and hospitals to use electronic medical records, transcriptionists and coders or be fined. This particular action has cut our department in half and with the upgrade of software coming this year, will cut it again. Great that he's bring jobs home for others though.

taking our jobs away, it is the software companies running a con on the hospitals that they need their software to be compliant. You can have EMR and still have transcriptionists and not point and click or doctors dictating themselves. The hospitals and doctors do not really understand the new EMR rule and fall for the software companies cons.

Another lie by Obama - he gave General Electric's CEO a boat load of our tax dollars for alternative energy - G.E.'s CEO moved jobs out of the USA. I don't think one of the companies have reopened in the USA and called back their former employees. I'm just saying .....

Anybody who is a QC ever ask for a raise? I got promoted to a QC from an MLS within Nuance. They estimated my rate by averaging my lines per hour, then adding $2 to it as my rate for being a QC. I've been at that rate only 7 months, but see lots of posts here about people being offered jobs in QC at $13 an hour and that is more than I make. Should I ask about a raise? Has anybody ever had luck asking for one? ...

I have a question for all you MTs out there. I have been with the same company for 8 years now and am still making the same cpl as I was when I was hired. Is this the norm? I would think a raise should be in order at some point. I am very reliable, always make production or over production, very accurate. Just kinda feeling unloved! LOL! ...

I am finally leaving the broken world of transcription vending to become an independent contractor once again. I am so very fortunate enough to have benefits through my husband's employer, so it's the pay I am really missing. Is it unreasonable to put a raise in the contract?
