know anything about Softscript?...sm - over it

I saw an ad for Softscript and it says "are you looking for traditional work only and no voice recognition?" or something along those lines. Does anyone work for them or did and know if this is true? Are they a good company as far as treating their employees and requirements, etc.??

you need benefits, make sure your line counts are where they need to be. They take away benefits when you don't make line counts. Their PTO leaves something to be desired. Don't ever plan on taking more than a 2 day vacation.

what are their requirements for lines, do you know? I was interested in the traditional only really but wonder if you can truly get that.

They require 135 lines a hour at least. If you run out of work which is inevitable quite a bit, then you are expected to hop on and make up lines usually during the weekend when there's a lot of work or use your PTO. You also will have to get used to being bounced around to several other accounts and keeping track of account specs for all the different accounts while keeping your line count up. On the plus side, yes it is straight typing.

it's hard to have them one month and taken away the next and then earned back 2 months later. Just not worth the hassle. QA is tough also so cross yout t's and dot your i's and whatever you do, don't get client specifics incorrect or you'll be out quickly.

MT requirements are 135 LPH, which isn't too challenging to maintain. Yes, you have to work your schedule, which will almost always include a weekend day. I've only run out of work over the major holidays of Thanksgiving and Christmas, which is the norm for MT work, but even then managed to get in the majority of my shift. My manager leaves me alone as long as I'm working my schedule, which equates to I have work during my scheduled hours. They seem to go to great lengths to coordinate schedules with workflow, which in my experience works out well. If you're looking for a change, I think SS is worth a shot.

How long after end of pay period does Softscript usually pay? I'm fairly new and trying to adjust! It's the 8th and end of November pay hasn't posted yet - is it just me since I'm new? I have noticed a significant decline in my line count with Softscript ever since their blooper that happened on MT week. I dont really understand how that has affected my line count so much but I used to type 23 jobs and get about 1000 lines. Now I type 23 jobs on the same accounts and get 700 lines. Something is wrong with this picture. I am looking for another job, I just feel like I'm wasting my time. ...

I noticed that every now and then that SoftScript advertises on the MT Job board for a pathology transcriptionist. I tried applying for that job once, but they said that they wanted "recent" experience and the last time I did pathology was in 2001. And yet, they keep advertising for that position. I've not been working for SS very long and have been doing QA for them. I was wondering if anyone who reads this board is a QA, or has been a QA, for SS and, if so, do they audit you? How strict are the audits? What happens if you don't make the score? I have a friend who used to work for SS a couple years ago and she said that she quit because the audits were "nitpicky." Have over 10 years experience, have applied twice, have left my shift to work open. Have nothing against me, great references. Sounds very possible that SS will go the way of TRS and MDI. The posts below sound eerily similar to the TRS and MDI sagas. If I were a betting man, I’d wager that, like TRS and MDI, the company will fail/sell out and be absorbed by a bigger one. What does anybody know about a company called Softscript and what do they think -- I think Medical Transcriptionists are being ripped off.
