Softscript QA?? - curious

Thinking of applying with SS - any info on their QA or typing platform wanted. They say it is great, but .......... of course they would. Also does a QA position get paid hourly or by the line?

The platform is good and straightforward. Lots of references provided. QA is paid production, but it is a good line rate. Everyone transcribes from time to time, when their primary work is cleared out. The transcription is straight typing, no voice wreck. They use BOS 2, which is nice since 3 is not the easiest thing to deal with. Overall, good company to work for.

How does paying QA a line rate work ? Does it go by the lines in the entire report, obviously if doing QA'ing a full QA, but how about just a couple of blanks ? In my QA experience, even just a couple blanks can be time consuming. Are you just paid by the lines you correct then ?

Pay is by the line for QA. 100% of content is reviewed and verified, not just blank fill-in.

I would routinely QA 2500 lines a night, my record was 4000 lines in one night on a new account that was full QA because the transcriptionists were exceptionally good. I loved that job!

May I ask why you are a sorry ex SSer - you mean you are sorry you are no longer with them ?? If so, may I ask why you left and what the line rate was for QA ?? Thanks

I'm sorry I quit. I was working part-time for Nuance and realized that I would never be able to make QA or production bonus working part-time. I was running out of work with SS and instead of talking to CR and asking to be put under a different PM with more volume(there had been 2 PMs fired in 2 months on my accounts), I decided I would make more money with Nuance. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Didn't give them 2 weeks so I'm not eligible for rehire and I even called and tried to get them to take me back, no luck. They paid 5-1/2 cents a line for QA with a 3-tiered bonus and the QA people make a little bit more on transcription to make up for the lack of bonus availability if you have to transcribe. I had a couple of crappy accounts but even those I got used to and I don't think they have them anymore either. But yes, I loved that job especially under my original PM who used to be QA head, she was awesome. One thing, after they reorganized there were more QA issues/disagreements that came up because the PM was responsible for the QA under them and there was a lack of continuity. However, I have since worked for 2 other MTSOs and have quit Nuance and even quit transcription for a couple months, and I realized now how great SS was!

How long after end of pay period does Softscript usually pay? I'm fairly new and trying to adjust! It's the 8th and end of November pay hasn't posted yet - is it just me since I'm new? I have noticed a significant decline in my line count with Softscript ever since their blooper that happened on MT week. I dont really understand how that has affected my line count so much but I used to type 23 jobs and get about 1000 lines. Now I type 23 jobs on the same accounts and get 700 lines. Something is wrong with this picture. I am looking for another job, I just feel like I'm wasting my time. ...

I noticed that every now and then that SoftScript advertises on the MT Job board for a pathology transcriptionist. I tried applying for that job once, but they said that they wanted "recent" experience and the last time I did pathology was in 2001. And yet, they keep advertising for that position. I've not been working for SS very long and have been doing QA for them. I was wondering if anyone who reads this board is a QA, or has been a QA, for SS and, if so, do they audit you? How strict are the audits? What happens if you don't make the score? I have a friend who used to work for SS a couple years ago and she said that she quit because the audits were "nitpicky." Have over 10 years experience, have applied twice, have left my shift to work open. Have nothing against me, great references. Their email address they provide on their website when submitting emails to returns stating not a working email/no longer exists...Not one reply back. Do not answer their phones. Sounds very possible that SS will go the way of TRS and MDI. The posts below sound eerily similar to the TRS and MDI sagas. If I were a betting man, I’d wager that, like TRS and MDI, the company will fail/sell out and be absorbed by a bigger one.
