Anyone have anything to say about Softscript?  The good, the bad, the ugly. :)  Whatever you got, I'd like to hear it.  Pay on time, good people to work for, what is the pay, etc.  You know, all that good stuff.  Thanks! :)

I did find some stuff about SS but seemed like pretty old info. One thing I read was that they switch you from account to account. I'm hoping that is not the case anymore. I have an interview next week. Anyone willing to share what the pay is, and/or what the production bonuses entail? :)

SoftScript posts a job ad EVERY Friday. that in itself tells you they OVERHIRE. I have been in this business for over 20 years, worked for them for 1 year, the absolute worst company in my entire career. but people keep going to work for them and not paying any attention to the responses on this board, which are almost ALL negative. so you figure it out, and when they take a year out of your life and give you NO WORK during your "schedule," ask you if you want to "make up the time you missed," meaning they didn't have work during YOUR work time, THEN tell you that you can't work unless it is your scheduled time, and blahblahblah, it really goes on and on. the rules change every day. one day, you need to work at night because there was no work during your day schedule. the next day, you are not allowed to work outside of your scheduled work hours. whatever works for THEM is what you live with. I like Paisley's response, they pay on time, and good luck getting a paycheck you can live on. really, I don't understand why people keep asking about this company and getting all negative responses and then ask again, like TRYING to find a positive one. maybe SOMEBODY had a positive experience there, like a long long time ago in caveman days, but really my best advice is to pay attention to the negative comments. we don't just make this stuff up, it really happened.

I had no work for 4 hours out of my 8 hour shift. I really don't understand their rationale for hiring more people. I also find it very hard to make line count on their transcription platform. No word expansion other than Word auto-correct. But of course watch out for Lucy who posts on here. I swear she works with a big SS on her shirt and pompoms on her desk. She must have super easy accounts to be constantly cheerleading for this company.

exSS, to answer your question, the reason I asked is not because I don't believe what everyone has said, but simply because I hadn't read those posts prior to my post. And when I did find them, I didn't know how old they were (no dates on the page I was looking at). Someone had mentioned something about new management, so I wasn't sure if that had happened or if it had changed anything. I also saw a couple people who said SS was great. HAHA maybe it was Lucy now that I think about it. Anyway, I do appreciate your 2 cents :) Thanks ladies!

no VR. Before VR they were widely known as the worst around. Now, only because they're straight typing, they are able to draw people in again. You will not reliably get work during your shift, and if you want to make it up, you will need their permission ahead of time to work on your day off (even though you were required to sit in front of your computer on your regular shift just to make SURE you didn't have work). That can't possibly be legal, but that's what they expect. Oh, and learn to love that mouse! You'll be using it a lot because it's the only way to navigate their archaic platform.

My main problem with Soft Script was they switched me around on accounts. I had work but the ortho acct I had was crummy and you could not make out what the docs were saying and then QA judges you for percent of work you send to QA, well that was trouble. Plus just their general crappy attitude and the crummy negative e-mails we would get. Nothing positive hardly ever. I had work but work I had was not good.

Their platform is beyond old and outdated. There is no VR because the owners are too cheap to implement new software. Because of this SS generally does only overflow work for a few medium-sized accounts. Terrible quality sound files, ESL docs right off the boat, no production incentives--which is okay because there's no work so why drive yourself crazy?!? They do pay on time. One of the PM's has something going on upstairs as she's changed the policy of having QA counted against you for reports that you are REQUIRED to send to QA as the policy is MANDATORY QA on several accounts (they've been doing that since I started working for them 6 years ago), so I'm sure she'll be gone soon. I keep waiting for an email telling me the company has gone belly-up and that I'm out of a job. Please won't someone buy them out???

Someone else buying them out (probably a bigger company) is not always better. Sure things will be fine at first and they will leave you alone becuase they want to keep the clients happy, but sooner or later they will change you to their system (probably with VR) and if you think they ESL and sound files are bad now wait until they put them on VR and you only get 1/2 the pay to retype the WHOLE report because that is what happens with VR. 1/2 the pay most of the time double the work. I do have a few docs that are great on VR and I can fly through them, but def more money to be made in straight transcription. JMHO though. I have been there, done that, bought out, made the switch now after 2 years they moved us to their side of things and $1000 a month from my pay went bye-bye with the great VR program they have. Impossible to make the same amt I did while straight typing. :(

Yeah, a think a buyout would be bad news as companies are mainly all going to VR. There are a few that don't but it's hard to avoid. My company is planning on it, and I am planning on a big pay cut and not so sure I want to continue doing this. Oh, they will deny that, saying we get bonuses, etc. but when you're just making minimum wage they can afford to give bonuses, etc. Yes, straight transcription is always more, that is, of course, if you are getting enough work too.

I know of one time just a few months ago they had a bank "goof" they said and didn't pay for days after payday and from what I've read, this has happened before.

Thanks everyone for the info on SS. I'm supposed to get up at the crack of dawn for this telephone interview, and now I am thinking I won't bother! I was super excited because it is a psych account I was going for. Poop. :(

How long after end of pay period does Softscript usually pay?  I'm fairly new and trying to adjust!  It's the 8th and end of November pay hasn't posted yet - is it just me since I'm new?  Whenever it is, it's okay - I'm not complaining - I'm just wondering so I can budget accordingly!  I wasn't told anything about this at training or hiring and knew some helpful follks on here could help!  ...

I have noticed a significant decline in my line count with Softscript ever since their blooper that happened on MT week.  I dont really understand how that has affected my line count so much but I used to type 23 jobs and get about 1000 lines.  Now I type 23 jobs on the same accounts and get 700 lines.  Something is wrong with this picture.  I am looking for another job, I just feel like I'm wasting my time. ...

I noticed that every now and then that SoftScript advertises on the MT Job board for a pathology transcriptionist.  I tried applying for that job once, but they said that they wanted "recent" experience and the last time I did pathology was in 2001.  And yet, they keep advertising for that position.  What's up with them?  Can't they hold on to any help?  On the surface, it looks like they have a high turn-over rate with that position.  Am I missing somethi ...

I interviewed and recruiter says they are hiring some 68 transcriptionists.  I asked was this for a new account.  She says, no for one of their old accounts.  What would you be hiring 68 transcriptionists for an old account unless you fired all the new ones, or is it just me thinking that way. ...

I've not been working for SS very long and have been doing QA for them. I was wondering if anyone who reads this board is a QA, or has been a QA, for SS and, if so, do they audit you? How strict are the audits? What happens if you don't make the score? I have a friend who used to work for SS a couple years ago and she said that she quit because the audits were "nitpicky." I'm just wondering if I need to be concerned about that at all. TIA for the info. ...

Have over 10 years experience, have applied twice, have left my shift to work open.  Have nothing against me, great references.  Their email address they provide on their website when submitting emails to returns stating not a working email/no longer exists...Not one reply back.  Do not answer their phones.  No response to application.  Yet, every week, they post begging for people.  IMO, companies like this, aren't worth 2 cents.  If the people they hire ...

SoftScript has bait and switch listings up again.  Please take a minute and read over recent posts regarding SoftScript's techniques to employ MTs.  How many mentors and Q coordinators can they really need?  They post these fictitious positions, hire as many people as they can for these positions, and a few days after being hired, no one will be the "right fit."  At that point, all these people will then be asked to leave or stay on as an MT.  PLEASE DO NOT FALL FOR ...
