Softscript really bad? - needingajob

Just finished their testing. Have read the archives of 2011 on them. Does not sound like a company I want to work for. Are they employee status or IC? Any current SS employees out there?

Employee status. I tried them twice and twice had the same experience. sm - Colorado MT

As they say, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. The story is the same -- work dries up, yet you are expected to sit there your entire shift and enjoy the lovely NJA message you get. Pay is decent, especially with the shift differential and weekend differential, but it doesn't matter if you don't have any work. Fortunately, the last time it was just a PT job for me and it was painless to say goodbye.

since work there has dried up across the board. You will just sit there getting "no jobs" messages and get grief for not getting your lines in. Be aware that Softscript consistently overhires, so you'll be lucky to pay your rent. Good luck.

I wasn't too impressed with all the comments I read about them. I'm going to blow them off. I've already worked for 1 company that ran out of work, no tech support and cut benefits.

I have been with SS just a year and only the last several months has there been an issue with running out of work. I used to try to make up the lines at the end of the week when there was work, but no more. Works seems to be steady again, but for how long, nobody knows. I'll stick it out for awhile because it is straight typing and I had VR. We will just see what happens the coming year. I am retiring after the 1st of the year and may go part-time because I still need to work. Am really considering doing IC so I don't have to work weeksnds or holidays, although it won't be at SS. Been doing this way too long and tired of having to schedule "my life" around working weekends and holidays.

How long after end of pay period does Softscript usually pay? I'm fairly new and trying to adjust! It's the 8th and end of November pay hasn't posted yet - is it just me since I'm new? I have noticed a significant decline in my line count with Softscript ever since their blooper that happened on MT week. I dont really understand how that has affected my line count so much but I used to type 23 jobs and get about 1000 lines. Now I type 23 jobs on the same accounts and get 700 lines. Something is wrong with this picture. I am looking for another job, I just feel like I'm wasting my time. ...

I noticed that every now and then that SoftScript advertises on the MT Job board for a pathology transcriptionist. I tried applying for that job once, but they said that they wanted "recent" experience and the last time I did pathology was in 2001. And yet, they keep advertising for that position. I've not been working for SS very long and have been doing QA for them. I was wondering if anyone who reads this board is a QA, or has been a QA, for SS and, if so, do they audit you? How strict are the audits? What happens if you don't make the score? I have a friend who used to work for SS a couple years ago and she said that she quit because the audits were "nitpicky." Have over 10 years experience, have applied twice, have left my shift to work open. Have nothing against me, great references. Their email address they provide on their website when submitting emails to returns stating not a working email/no longer exists...Not one reply back. Do not answer their phones. How many mentors and Q coordinators can they really need? Sounds very possible that SS will go the way of TRS and MDI. The posts below sound eerily similar to the TRS and MDI sagas. If I were a betting man, I’d wager that, like TRS and MDI, the company will fail/sell out and be absorbed by a bigger one. What does anybody know about a company called Softscript and what do they think -- I think Medical Transcriptionists are being ripped off.
