Is there anything better about Nuance than Transcend? - Concerned Transcender

I have a lump in my throat today about the merger. I am wondering if there is anything positive that can come out of this. Do part time workers receive any benefits? Are there any typing accounts at Nuance or is it all VR? TIA

Nothing in conference call made me feel good. No doubt in my mind we will be thrown under the bus to benefit them. I have been lied to before with these mergers and it's all the same. They tell you whatever they have to, to keep the boat steady. As soon as the sale is final, we're all thrown overboard because we are no longer "their" concern and all is blamed on the new company. Very convenient for the ones selling us out to line their pockets. I have not yet come across anyone in Nuance working on straight typing. Not saying there isn't, just have not met them. I'm right there with you sis. The only ones I have seen benefit from any of these mergers are platform mgrs., asst. mgrs, team leaders on up the food chain to top management. I personally never got one single benefit of a merger, just a pay cut. :(

Does Nuance use IC's? I think they will pretty much leave everything as it is at first until the transition period is over, then make their changes. It would be too much chaos if they tried to change everything at once. We can just hope and pray!

beware -- only those in the upper echelons will remain and the last experience I had with a merger, even some of those were not safe. My only hope is that one special TL goes!

Well I was at Transcend for 2 years after they bought out the little mom and pop company I was working for and had been at for 6 years. You are just a #. There happened to be an issue just recently and I ended up quitting. I guess I should consider myself lucky. I also hope to see one special TL get sacked - she had no management skills whatsoever and had no heart.

I wish all of you the best of luck in the new endeavor and if not I hope you find something else that fits. Usually it does work out somehowe

Most Transcender jobs will remain, as usual, because who'd service the accounts otherwise? Some will lose in the shuffle--MTs in the wrong place at the wrong time perhaps, but especially people in the supervisory and lower/middle management range as changes are made.

As for the good word, my part of Nuance is actually understaffed now, with no attempt to hire to maximum now because it's expected that the better platform most accounts are moving to over time will mean more people are not needed in the long run. In any case, for some time now we've had lots and lots of work, and that handling of this transition to the new platform is definitely something nice I can say about Nuance.

A bigger % of leaders and managers lose jobs over weeks and months - From What I Have Seen

Usually some of the managers and leaders hang on a little longer before losing their jobs. That many leaders and managers just get in the way over time. They aren't needed. More of them lose jobs than regular MTs and most of them have forgotten how to transcribe, if they ever knew.

when I was hired, I was told my account would be 50/50. HA! I do 98% VR. This is the first time I've done VR and it sucks. My pay sucks. This job sucks. I'm moving in a few months and once I'm settled in a new town, I'm job hunting. Anything has to be better than this.

Actually eScription is excellent, and I've heard the - Dictaphone is also good. However,

there are apparently other platforms around, for instance those used on accounts brought in by merger. Those seem to be typically changed over to Nuance's programs, but it takes time.

I would guess your accounts will similarly remain on the current platforms and SR programs for the time being.

Webmedx is just now getting switched over to the newer platforms and they were bought out last July. If you are currently on a platform that is owned by their rival (M*Modal) it will be immediately stopped. They took us off of that and put us back on an older version we had before that. Just FYI.

I have worked for Nuance and am now at Transcend - lka

After 3 weeks I left Nuance because of mostly the terrible dictators and too many work types to keep track of, plus running out of work, after 3 weeks!!!

I was part time there and am part-time at Transcend (my choice). One good thing about Nuance was that they did have PTO for part-timers (which Transcend does not). One other thing I liked was their Escription program (which is very user-friendly) and had worked on for 2 years previously. I also worked on Dictaphone for 3 years and familiar with that platform.

I am being paid more at Transcend than Nuance. I will say the people there were very helpful and did not want me to leave, but I felt I was working too hard for so little money. Been with Transcend now for 6 months and finally just got a decent account about 3 weeks ago; as I also had the worst of the worst with mostly ESL. I have 25 years plus and still found it difficult. I can only hope I am on the same account that I am now when we move to Nuance, and that they don't outsource all the "good work," if you know what I mean...

Well, well, well. Looks like some of the Transcend QA hagathas must be QAing Nuance's work now because they are marking off for every little thing! I get marked off because I forgot to add a dash. THIS IS RIDICULOUS! I was QC myself but went back to being an MT due to the low pay per hour, and I just noticed this. They want to make sure no one will ever get that bonus it looks like! ...

to actually make a living. Before Nuance bought Transcend I almost always had PLENTY of work. For the last month or so, work has been very, very, very scarce on a once very busy account. I formally worked for Transcend Services and would advise people not to work for this organization. They are now switching over to Nuance, but stay away from them. They are extremely critical of everything you do. This is supposedly because they think they have such high standards, but they just enjoy being mean and critical to transcriptionists, who pay everyone's salaries. Used to work for Transcend and loved that you input your own time card. You could put down 8 hours even if it took you 10 to make your lines/$. Sorry to see employees will now have to use that same stupid clock we all do. Not hard, just a pain in the (&*&. When we were acquired by Nuance we still use our old system with time clock built in and the new one too. Then the reduction in wages. All in all... not a joyful union. My sympathies are ...

I am at about the last straw with this company. Just a few minutes ago I got an e-mail from TSM about the "gym membership reimbursement" program. It was to remind us "full-timers" to get our attendance records in to HR so that we can get reimbursement. Now, I have never even heard of this program.
