Transcend MQ or Nuance - Gloria

I'm trying to decide whether to apply at Transcend, Nuance or MQ. Any inputs from those MTs that work at these 3 companies?

I would greatly appreciate your assistance as all 3 companies have contacted me and I'm very leery of Nuance because of the offshore connection. Does Transcend or MQ send our work offshore or are owned by offshore companies?

I think all three send some off-shore. Transcend inherited an account that was already off-shoring its work, but the domestic of these big three I believe Transcend is the best. Transcend does look out for their domestic MLSs. The thing I most enjoy about working with Transcend is their flexibility. From reading these boards frequently I think they also pay the best for VR and line out of the three you are inquiring about.

We are owned by Kumar, and "I believe" more than 3/4 of our work is done offshore. We have been owned by CBAY since 2006!

But yet they still operate under MQ - hence they are MedQuist! nm - Just me

I worked at MQ for quite a long time. Do your research on this company, which was purchased by CBAY and is now Indian-owned. It has a very bad track record with treatment of MTs. I was with Transcend for brief while after it ate another company I was with. Offshoring is a big issue for me, so I quit. I would not work for Nuance. My best advice is to keep looking. There are more companies out there. Try smaller, mid-sized ones. Good luck!

Have been with Transcend for a couple of years. Love it. Have worked in 3 different regions, all very positive regions. Supportive. Team-oriented. Great teamleads. Great ROMs. Offshoring I believe happens if there are shifts that they can't get any MLSs to cover and face it...business is business. If the MLSs don't want to work those shifts and the company doesn't do Something...the company is in jeopardy and then we potentially lose our jobs, so nobody wins. Not a suit here, just an MLS who feels very fortunate to have a good job during tough economic times. The smaller companies I believe are great, but you always run the risk of being acquired by a larger one, or going under eventually. You get out of anything what you put into it, and that includes a positive attitude. Give Transcend a try.

I've been at Transcend for nearly a year and a half and am very happy there. I have 2 great accounts, and except for a couple of really horrible ESLs (and one or two English-speaking dictators) am very happy with those accounts. The pay is on time and they have direct deposit which I really like.

Well, well, well. Looks like some of the Transcend QA hagathas must be QAing Nuance's work now because they are marking off for every little thing! I get marked off because I forgot to add a dash. THIS IS RIDICULOUS! I was QC myself but went back to being an MT due to the low pay per hour, and I just noticed this. They want to make sure no one will ever get that bonus it looks like! ...

I formally worked for Transcend Services and would advise people not to work for this organization. They are now switching over to Nuance, but stay away from them. They are extremely critical of everything you do. This is supposedly because they think they have such high standards, but they just enjoy being mean and critical to transcriptionists, who pay everyone's salaries. Used to work for Transcend and loved that you input your own time card. You could put down 8 hours even if it took you 10 to make your lines/$. Sorry to see employees will now have to use that same stupid clock we all do. Not hard, just a pain in the (&*&. When we were acquired by Nuance we still use our old system with time clock built in and the new one too. Then the reduction in wages. All in all... not a joyful union. My sympathies are ...

I am at about the last straw with this company. Just a few minutes ago I got an e-mail from TSM about the "gym membership reimbursement" program. It was to remind us "full-timers" to get our attendance records in to HR so that we can get reimbursement. Now, I have never even heard of this program.
