So I wonder if I will be fired or WHAT....just do it already then - I am so stressed out

Does anyone think they will fire someone who fluctuates back and forth on the grid? I don't send more than 10% AS OF YET. But it's difficult to stay on that grid EVERY SINGLE TIME, especially with all the STRESS of worrying about it.

So I've been going back and forth since the beginning of this "safety pay plan" getting around 99.5% to 100% for 2 weeks then falling off the grid at 98% (and once much lower), back on the grid, back off. I guess one week I'm an excellent MT and the next I totally suck. I am just so stressed thinking they are going to fire me. I am sure it would be a blessing in disguise if they did, but I'm not ready yet. I am my sole source of income and I'd mostly likely end up homeless if I got fired before finding something else.

and then PAP (couldn't come up with better initials, Nuance?). FWIW, my QA% fluctuates, too, but I was verbally warned for not meeting min LPH, not the QA%. I think if you were consistently under 99%, then they would have a problem with that. Sounds to me that you are doing okay.

"congratulations you are doing fantastic" followed the next week by a "you need to take this quality class" email....followed by another "congratulations" type of email. Back and forth like I said....makes my head spin. I wish they'd just NOT send the emails....inevitably it's going to change....LOL

Do you think that is the parameter they go by mostly? If it costs them money, it is an issue. Otherwise not so much. Not sure, but money usually seems to be their big motivator.

I also have gotten the alternating Good Job and Do Better emails. smh. Have taken some of the recommended classes, mainly for productivity (does not help 1 iota when audio/dictator quality is what slows you down).

As for the verbal warning, you would get an email first to tell you to improve or else get a call from your TSM. Then if you still do not improve, you would arrange a time to talk to your TSM and at that time s/he would officially give you the verbal warning.

Verbal warning generally starts with a phone call with your TSM, after which you should receive an e-mail stating what was discussed on the call. Then, there will be a followup call after about 2 weeks. If not enough progress has been made, the next step is a performance action plan (PAP). This involves weekly calls for 4 weeks and then after 4 weeks, the end game could be termination if not enough progress met.

That is a 4 week plan, so if you do end up on that you have 4 weeks to find a job while on it. I just got off of one, and made it through, but what for I don't know, to have 2 hours of work a day. Anyway good luck.

If you are fluctuating like that they might not even say anything to you as I'm sure they probably look at someone off the grid for more than a few weeks as someone who needs a warning. BUT I will put out there- from my personal recent experience, if you do get a verbal warning and have so much time to get your numbers up... ASK exactly how much time and IF THE TIME STARTS FROM THE PHONE CALL OR NOT. I just had a huge problem with them telling me I had 2 weeks and I did get the numbers up but then was told they counted the week prior to the warning. Then told 2 weeks prior to the warning they counted in my "improvement" weeks, which is NOT fair. I will be following up and finding out the actual procedure though but in case you do ASK and specify if it is from the call date or NOT. b/c if it is not, you might have less time then they are saying and you will need to know that. I wouldn't worry if I were you and if you meet lines.

MQ doesn't discriminate. I was fired. I started with Medquist in 1998. They fired me in 1997. I was hired and Spheris and became a Medquist employee after they bought Spheris. I was fired again today. Has anyone been fired and able to draw unemployment from this ridiculous company? I just can't take it anymore, want to quit, but think if I can somehow draw unemployment that would be great for me. I am a medical transcriptionist with over 15 years of experience, and I was fired today for low audit scores. I don't know why I am happy about this.
