Fired today. - Unbelievable.

Well, I was up and fired in the middle of my work day today. The reason - I didn't do ENOUGH difficult dictators. Seriously? I have been doing this for 30 years, 13 years at this company, which has been having financial problems for the past 5 years. Outsourcing work to keep costs down, cutting all benefits among a few, and losing the majority of their accounts.

I believe they are weeding out long-time employees to cut costs since we were still paid on a scale. Well, I was getting pretty tired of being underpaid, overworked and unappreciated. Maybe this for the best. Taking some ME time and will collect that unemployment check for awhile - can you say Margaritas ? !!!!

I say have a - Margarita for me!

I am SO sorry this happened to you in such an unprofessional manner. But, these things ALWAYS work out for the best. You will look back on this in a while and say, AHA that was why this happened, to put me in this better place! Will send good thoughts to you and take that me time, you deserve it

How ironic- I quit a job today because I hadn't gotten any work or anything in 3 weeks. I figured I had to make it official since they also didn't have the balls to tell me! Good luck to you!

bad behavior you want to see less of, reward good to encourage that.

MGC SHOULD publish the name. Yes, people will rush to apply these days, but on average that pool will be less qualified than the pool that feels able to look for better.

BTW, it's not actionable libel if it's true. Keep to documentable facts. Whenever you find yourself abused, copy anything copyable to your own computer. Record conversations in a journal, with names and dates. At the very least, this could be critical for convincing your state that you qualify for unemployment benefits after being fired.

Nobody wants to grab her job. People just want to know who it was so they can avoid that company and not experience the same poor treatment.

I have over 30 years experience. I was with this company for over 13 years. The company is financially hurting. They have lost multiple accounts in the past 3 years, have made cutbacks, etc. The attitude of everyone from the owner down to the supervisor has drastically changed. No communication and when it is, it's usually filled with snotty remarks. I loved this company up until the past few years. It's sad to see what this field has come down to, no one cares about their employees, you're just a number to them. I don't think I'll even bother looking for another large MT company. I'd tell you the name but I want my last paycheck. I'll be glad to blast their name in a couple weeks. :)

Well, I was officially fired yesterday. Up until last summer, I was one of their top producers, never having an accuracy problem. The reason I got fired? I got sick. Early last summer, I let a UTI go for 10 days (lived off Rx strength OTC Pyridium) until I was severely septic and urinating almost pure blood and clots. Isn't it odd that being fired from MQ isn't a disgrace? Being fired from any other place would be total humiliation, but I don't think anybody here would ever look down on another MT who was let go. MQ doesn't discriminate. I was fired. I started with Medquist in 1998. They fired me in 1997. I was hired and Spheris and became a Medquist employee after they bought Spheris. I was fired again today. Has anyone been fired and able to draw unemployment from this ridiculous company? I just can't take it anymore, want to quit, but think if I can somehow draw unemployment that would be great for me. So I've been going back and forth since the beginning of this "safety pay plan" getting around 99.5% to 100% for 2 weeks then falling off the grid at 98% (and once much lower), back on the grid, back off.
