FIESA... - so sick and tired of QA/QC

I know we complain and complain about this on here and we fight and argue with the TLs about this...I was marked off half a point for EACH blank that I left on a dictation that the tape cut out.  The only explanation from QA was that "it was clearly understood".  I am just wondering how it was clearly understood.  I went back and listened to the tape and sure enough where I had blanks, the tape was cutting out.  So why am I being marked off for blanks. 

Then on a few other dictations, I am marked off a full point for adding a few words for clarity, otherwise it made no sense...words such as "and", "the", etc and QA came back and statd type as dictated...on a few more dictations I typed as dictated and was marked off a full point for typing as dictated.  Really what the H do they want.  No matter what you do, you are nailed.  Of course I have challenged these to my TL, but do you think she will respond, NOPE b/c she has yet to respond to my challenges from 2 weeks ago.  It is what it is and it is pretty sad to say the least. 

I was also nailed 3 points on a dictation for pending it to QA for clarification b/c I was not sure exactly what the speaker wanted b/c she was not clear and was rambling on how ticked she was for having to re dictate a dictation.  So I blanked and pended for verification and was given 3 points off for doing such and the ignorant comments from QA, type what is dictated...however the specs state otherwise. 

I just had to vent.  So irritating to say the least and they have to wonder why people do not want to bother signing in on their off time to help them out.  What's the point when the more you work, the more you are penalized.  They make us feel so dumb like we don't know how to do our jobs.

The only thing you can do is dispute it to your TL. It makes me crazy that I need to add this extra time to my work day, but I want to protect my incentive, so that is what I have to do. It seems to take a long time to hear back and sometimes I have to resend the emails, but I am hoping this helps the QCs learn.

Just got promoted from QC. So, that team is up the creek without a paddle. Just sayin...now the team is managed from the Feisa/QC viewpoint... good luck to them.

to play the silent parts of the dictation. QCs and QA edit/audit reports the same way you edit...same platform, just different mode within the platform, which does NOT improve the sound. We listen to the same thing the MTs edit and edit/audit with or without the red box too. Unfortunately, no "better" player. I wish!

They hear it through an entirely different platform. QC, yes, the same as MT. QA is using different platform with better audio.

This is why I do not check Fiesa anymore. I learn nothing from it. I am powerless to get their mistakes reversed (after many attempts). The amount I lose in incentive does not cover the extra time I have to spend researching and challenging their mistakes, even if I were to be successful at getting their mistakes reversed. And now I find that we are not working on a level playing field. This just reinforces to me the wisdom of minimizing the exposure I have to Fiesa. I am happier now that I have given up on trying to keep a 99% score, because the cards are stacked against us. I think I am more accurate, as well, because I am not stressed and worried all the time.

Type a report in Editscript. Then go into escription http://www.escription.com/

In Editscript, "control, alt >" will take you directly to escription. Look up the report you just typed and listen to it. To my ear, it is better audio and I've heard others say this as well.

Like I said, I WISH we had better audio. We do not. Not sure where you got your info, but it is incorrect. Again, try using ALT+S more.

I worked QA for years for Transcend on BeyondTXT and yes, indeed, QA/TL does hear it better, without a doubt. Yes, it is grossly unfair to the MLS and highly inefficient and dangerous. We were specifically told by the ROM not to tell the MLS.

I use alt S on all my dictations. If you go back and listen to the dictations and you still CANNOT hear what the QA/QC filled in....then how are they hearing what I said. They can't be certain b/c I for one have had a blank, QC filled it in, it was wrong (incorrect lab value) and I was charged with the error and had to take my time to challenge it. Playing the silences doesn't mean you can hear it, actually on this account, you really can't tell the difference with or without the silences. It is a best guess on their end.

since I don't keep a copy of what I upload and my memory is not that good (I can't trust it, actually!)

This is yet another reason I do not review my Fiesa anymore unless forced to. It is not good for my health!

The only thing that counts towards your bonus is work that is QA'd post audit.

If it is stuff you sent to QC don't worry about it, it doesn't count against your bonus.

I completely ignore QC and simply find the little box in FIESA and say reviewed, though I don't review it because it is all contradictory and ridiculous.

I do check my FIESA and I guess I am one of the lucky ones because so far I have had a whole lot reversed back out and for that I am very glad - but I had left a blank on a medicine which I could not understand (not phonetically at all or what it started with etc) BUT I was left a note and told that they easily found it by going through the archives -- well first of all I wouldn't know if I had found it or not since I could not make it out at all and secondly I am not wasting 15 minutes of my time when I am getting constantly griped at if my LPH falls below what it should be and I am told to not spend a lot of time researching things by my TL to go through this person's prior reports until I can find the one that references a medicine - I truly sometimes don't know what they expect of us

When I started working here a number of months ago, I did check all the time, and at first I was successful in getting the very obvious errors reversed (of course it took huge amounts of unpaid time to get the occasional reversal). Anything that could possibly go either way was always decided in favor of QA. But now I can't seem to get even obvious errors reversed, and so I gave up trying because it was so frustrating.

and I essentially got dinged FOR going through the archives and putting the correct allergy, the only one ever mentioned 4 times in the patient's reports, instead of dictator's slightly dyslexic version of it. I supposedly should have left a blank, thus "Failure to flag." I feel like I'm in MT Bizarro World, being penalized for going out of my way to search past reports (and of course losing money in the process of doing that) in order to assure accuracy of the record. And my dispute was denied because I shouldn't have "guessed." I'd have wagered a whole paycheck on that "guess," could really have used the money.

That one was basically the final straw for me, and I've ramped up the job search for something hopefully less insulting to my intelligence and professionalism elsewhere. You can't freakin' win for losing here.

You can't win for losing!! I always try to take the time to look something up if I think I can find it. I got the same thing the other day in one of mine "that I shouldn't have guessed" - EXCUSE ME - I NEVER guess so obviously I thought that was what I heard and I really resented that kind of remark - they don't know me or anything about me but should be able to tell that I don't guess when it comes to doing this. Whatever you do you seem to lose - good luck on trying to find something.

I'm at this point so demoralized by all that's happened after my non-offshoring company (which I made a big personal point of as a priority in my requirements for a company at the time) was bought out by Nuance that I'm not sure I know my own worth anymore and how to demand what I deserve. The slowly changing standards (I'd been over 99% QA virtually consistently for 2 years before recently), the switch to a horrendously awful health insurance plan that still costs about the same to us but with much decreased benefits, the increasing lack of work availability, etc., etc., make me feel like a frog in water that's been slowly increased to boiling, and so I'm now just about totally fricasseed without knowing how I got to where I am. Hopefully I won't jump from frying pan to fire (to continue the being-cooked-alive metaphors), but I almost don't see how it could get much worse, and heck, I worked for MedQuist for 7 years, so that's saying something.

You sound as if you are in the same boat I am - if you get a chance send me an email. I also was with Medquist for over 10 years and so depressed after the day I have had today that I just beyond being able to type. All I want to do is throw up. The more nervous I get the more errors I make and things you get marked off for with this company are truly ridiculous

I am in the same boat too. I worked for a small company for 12 years doing hospital work. They were great.

I have been with N way too long because they have made me feel like a number. I believe they have a lot of turnover and that can never be a good thing.

I am sick every day on this job. Have been here about a year and have learned 6 accounts. Some of them just vanished. One was straight typing to begin with, and when VR started picking up the docs, they account was just gone. That makes me feel very nervous about all the accounts. Plus, it's way too many accounts to be on for one person. So many specs and QC/QA is brutal for little things.

I feel sick as well. I used to love my job and was proud to be an MT.

Where did the accounts "vanish" to? Something to think about.

So agree. I am joining the Fiesa strike as well. My blood pressure just raises every time I log in. No point in reading it. It does NOT help your paycheck or your quality of work. I've heard the rumor that our QA is offshore, and I am really starting to believe it.

Guess now Nuance is getting desperate for new MTs. The new Ambassador Referral program is a hoot. They want experienced MTs, and offering $500 (if your referral stays long enough of course) and if you refer one person a year, you get Ambassador status?

This company thinks they can attract hardworking intelligent MTs? Think again.

I knew I shouldn't have looked at my FIESA from Saturday but I did.  Majority are 100% so for that I am grateful but THEN there are the others where you are marked off for stuff that make no sense and then there are the stupid errors that I did and will own up to and wonder where my brain was when I was typing - I think my brain was so worried about being marked off for every little thing that I honestly can't concentrate sometimes like I need to. ...

Okay, first quarter FIESA reviewed about 80 reports of mine and I actually got my incentive.  Now for this quarter, I am wavering on not getting my incentive with a 98.88 and for the past few weeks they have not reviewed a single one of my reports.  I smell something fishy.  This whole FIESA thing is to a) review enough reports a quarter so you fall below 99 and then b) if you are below 99, stop reviewing reports so you are stuck there with no chance to bring it up!  How fric ...

our post-audit reports are randomly pulled.  If you score high enough to get the bonus, your reports are gone through by the hatchet queens in India until they can find a report they can "audit" to bring you below 99%.  If you are kicked back to 98.99%, they still meet their contract requirements to the client, and Nuance does not have to pay you a bonus.  ...

I almost always get my critical errors on one particular doctor who I think I understand and then it turns out I miss something.  I think there is a way to do a report on critical errors and see if I can trend the dictator but I can't figure out how.  Does anybody know?  And before you tell me to ask my TSM I did but as usual never got an answer. ...

Much as I dislike FIESA and all this QA, what I really hate is finding out I've been typing something WRONG for 30 years.  The only thing I can say for myself is some QA decades ago filled it in for me and I didn't look it up.  Been typing Campo's fascia instead of Camper's fascia. Took a 1-point post-audit hit on it, too.  Shakes me up, what else have I been doing wrong for 30 years?  And will it knock me out of bonus territory next quarter... ...

My manager was constantly badgering me for not looking at it though and actually had me try to get on the other day when she called. How do other people get away with not looking at it? Just for "fun," I counted how many times I prevented a critical patient safety error today by catching the speaker saying the wrong age, gender, right vs. left, hyper versus hypo, you get the picture.  I quit counting at 8.  Never in my many years at Nuance have I made 8 CPSEs in 1 day.  So are we getting credit for the good work we do?  Not very likely. ...

I was having a good day, until I went into Fiesa...I have decided that one particular dictator--who speaks what he probably considers fluent English (He is American), is going to review for every report because he is the one I get poor scores on... I am constantly guessing if he said "and" or "in" or "on," and I missed a period....he backtracks, leaves words out, stumbles, and CANNOT pronounce even the simpelist of medications...let alone spell them, he spells them wrong too, hard to even under ...

The more they ding me for stupid stuff, the more mistakes I make. I know their goal is to prevent us from getting the quarterly bonus and I've never been able to get it anyway, so why try? I am always above 99%, but just below 99.5%. It is destroying my confidence and my ability to concentrate. And there is nothing in there as regards FIESA at all. Nada. Zip. Go ahead, do a search. It's not even in there. I have to wonder where it is written that we comply with FIESA and what the consequences are when we don't, except for emails and the shaming of the numbers of those who have not complied. I am really considering ignoring it completely. They never reverse any errors anymore, so why bother to waste the time, especially when it causes such an adverse effect on my mental heal ...

Are there no B's given on this?  I have checked it each day since I started (which was just a few days ago).  I either have A's or C's (with a percentage of 97 or 98%).  Today I typed 27 reports and got 100% accuracy on 25 of those and 2 that had C's but my overall grade was a C!!!  What am I missing.  Since I am technically still on 90 day "probation" it worries me.  I am typing well over the line count required and have made no "major" mistakes ...

FIESA. Just forget about it!! I see many postings to just let FIESA go. Well, to some of us, this means letting $3600 go per quarter, 14,000+ per year. I can work at a far less demanding job with no BS for that and that is what I will be doing. There are many whose "incentive" bonus is a large part of their income and it cannot be forgotten unless the finance company for our cars, the mortgage broker, the pharmacies and doctors, the kids, the lives of their families, are forgotten as well. So sick of the comments left in the FIESA - I do NOT leave random blanks and always take the time to try and research it in the data base by either looking up patient or physician depending on what I am looking for and then when I cannot find it I leave a blank and then at end of day to see their remark that it WAS EASILY found is truly an insult and a smack in the face.  I DID try and find it and maybe they are more experienced then I am or they may have heard of this physician and how is ...

Does anyone know if there is a list somewhere of the types of errors that we are supposed to be marked off for? I got marked off on a report for adding parentheses to a parenthetical statement because the parentheses were not dictated. Are we really supposed to be marked off for this? The "correction" made it so the sentence didn't even make sense. It didn't lower my score to less than 99%, so maybe it's not worth requesting a reversal, but it is annoying. ...

Does anyone know how the company post-audit and regular QC/QA go about choosing the reports that are checked?  Is there a quota per MT that is checked?   Are only the ones that are not right added in on post-audit, or do they come to them automatically, not by their choice?  To give an example.  For Oct 1st through Dec 31st, I was checked total of 99 reports with 39 being post-audit.  Now in January 1st through today, have already had 24 post-audits!  Can som ...
