Nuance disciplinary action plan - LauraLea

Posted: Jul 21, 2013

Does anyone know what, if any, disciplinary action Nuance has taken due to variances between system hours and hands-on-keyboard hours? Also, less than committed hours due to OOW situations (and not making it up during nonwork hours)? I want to know if these are things I even need to get worked up over.

Disciplinary action - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
Don't get worked up over anything. They might threaten something but they don't take much action. Heck, they don't even know whose still working and who quit. I've been with Nuance for over 5 years and believe me I know.

OOW - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
As far as the OOW situation, as long as you document it on the time clock you are covered. You may have the OPTION of making up that time, but do not have to because of OOW.

The hands on keyboard stuff I don't know about but as long as you get in your required lines I can't imagine they would care.

Good luck. Don't get stressed.

I'm not sure about exact answers to your questions - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
but isn't that part of what the law suit against Transcend/Nuance is about? My "hands-on keyboard" hours never match my system hours because there is always research to do, verifying demos, looking up doctor's names and city spellings, writing notes on why I left a blank because wrong even though clear as a bell and don't want QA just filling in the blank with what was heard such as sodium 126 but hypernatremia throughout the whole rest of report, reading emails and responding, reviewing account specs, etc., etc. I wouldn't think you would have to worry about it if not an excessive difference although depending on the dicators I get, can add up to a significant amount of time over a day.

Got an email today saying we have to use - PTO for OOW time not madeup

[ In Reply To ..]
Some very fine line treading going on at Nuance right now. Once you no longer have PTO left then you have to put in a request for time off without pay for any OOW situations.

On no... - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
You better check handbook, call human resources. We have always been told specifically we do NOT have to use PTO. I would sure check it out. Our PTO is too precious to use when they need it rather than when we want it.
We do not - memls
[ In Reply To ..]
I just emailed my TSM to tell her I was out of work for 5 hours on Friday and could not make it up..she just said thanks for letting her know. It is "suggested" we use PTO time but not mandatory..and also "suggested" to make up time but not mandatory..at least in my region.
Your TSM, not mine. Mine sent an email - saying USE PTO for OOW
[ In Reply To ..]
Here is the problem with Nuance, there is no consistency on anything.
Suggest you look at our Employee Handbook. sm - ?
[ In Reply To ..]
There is a section on OOW procedures, starting on page 12, I believe. You don't have to take PTO or make up the time according to the handbook. Make sure you report OOW on your timecard.
Yes, I know it is not "policy" or even legal really. - However, TSMs use intimidation
[ In Reply To ..]
to make you think that you have to do these things.

My TSM is pure evil (I know it sounds exaggerated but, unfortunately, it is true). She is hostile and uses intimidation on a very regular basis.

I used to like working at Nuance but between the changes to QC and moving to this new supervisor, I hate every second of every day.
If your supervisor intimidates you with - things that they
[ In Reply To ..]
cannot enforce and definitely state they cannot do in the handbook, why does it intimidate you? Contact HR and put his/her butt on the line. YOu don't need to be intimidated by it. That's just bull. I can guarantee you that if enough of his/her transcriptionists complained about the intimidation to HR, they wouldn't have a job. Problem is, no one complains! Everybody just wants to whine about it.
Hey thanks, nice advice and ending it with calling - me a whiner, sweet.
[ In Reply To ..]
I am not whining. Stating a fact of life at Nuance that they try to use intimidation. Thus the reason I am quitting.

So hilarious that you think you can report them to HR and they will get fired. Clearly you don't work at Nuance.
Hey...if the shoe fits. - Everybody whines
[ In Reply To ..]
and nobody stands up about it. It's true of every taxpayer in this country too. Nobody wants to DO anything about it.

You're wrong. I do work at Nuance. Been here a while now and yes, you're very right, they do use intimidation. The ones that use it have nothing to back it up with. That's why you need to call their bluff. I have reported many a supervisor to HR. I've gotten responses from them and actually have gotten an apology from a supervisor. When you stand up about something that definitely is not right, you can prove it's not right, and speak out to the right people in a professional manner, simply stating reasoning without a typical complaining mode, things get done. Sitting around "whining" about how bad things are with other people thinking the same thing and nobody ever doing anything about it, gets nothing done. All I'm saying. Sorry you took it personally. Sorry you are quitting instead of standing up and fighting for yourself. I sincerely hope you find what you're looking for in your new job/career. :-)
Quitting for a better job hon. Nuance is not - worth fighting for. NM

That's great. Understand completely. NM - Hope its what you need.

Bravo. I was about to say the same thing. sm - ?
[ In Reply To ..]
Don't let your TSM intimidate you. We had to sign off on receiving the handbook. Your TSM has to abide by the handbook. As suggested, contact HR. You can forward HR a copy of your TSMs intimidating email for HR "clarification". She is wrong with a capital W. Your TSM doesn't set company policy. Make sure to send a copy of your email to HR to yourself and if your email system allows, get a return receipt to show HR opened it. Unless there is something you aren't telling us, your TSM is wrong.
Something I am not telling you? - ooohkay.
[ In Reply To ..]
TSM sent out a GROUP email saying use your PTO for OOW and if you are out of PTO you need to put in time off without pay request for those hours not made up.

By they way, I never run out of work so don't have this problem. I just found it fascinating that she sent out this email, as I am aware it is NOT COMPANY POLICY.

Pardon me for making a comment. That is all I shall say on the subject because seriously, some people are just nasty and attack others without any provocation whatsoever.
This is why I rarely post here anymore. sm - ?
[ In Reply To ..]
When people try to help, they are the ones who get attacked. When I said unless there was something you aren't telling us I was thinking of people that try to stay clocked in when they are OOW and did not want to come out and say that. I never said anything about whining. I would not categorize you as a whiner...a pot stirrer perhaps? Sorry I got caught up in your stuff. Next time, I will not try to help anyone. Ain't worth it.
A pot stirrer? Geez. - no just posted a tidbit of info
[ In Reply To ..]
I know, I know, I said I was done and I will be after this.

I don't often run out of work but when I do I clock out of Webclock. When it does occur, I do NOT use my PTO.

I simply relayed a bit of info, which I thought was at least semi-relevant to the topic because I just got the e-mail this morning and thought what a load of garbage it was and thought I would share yet one more lovely little aspect of working for Nuance.

This board is about the sharing of information, is it not?

Sharing information and personal experience is not whining or even pot stirring.

Peace out people. I think I shall stay away from this board for a while. The atmosphere here is almost as hostile as the one at Nuance.
I just don't intimidate easily - And people that
[ In Reply To ..]
TRY to intimidate me or others, just simply tick me off. I've been on both sides of the scale, i.e. management, supervisory, owned my own service, all of it. I never had to intimidate people to do things, I tried to make them "want" to work for me. So, that being said, I cannot stand it when management tries to "intimidate" by making their own rules and so I stand up against them. In other words, I put them in their place if I can do it for sure, just to make a difference. I apologize for offending anyone, it's not my intention. Dang it, I just think everyone should be more like ME! (kidding!!!!). Seriously though...don't let people that put their panties on just like you do in the morning try to make you feel inferior; especially when you can really DING THEM BACK. LOL
Let TSMs make up their own rules. Let Nuance defend - the resulting lawsuits or dept of labor claims.
[ In Reply To ..]
Why half of these people are in positions they are is just utterly amazing. They have not tact, no experience, and most of all no clue.

MHO? Don't get worked up over it. - Never

[ In Reply To ..]
Been there about 18 months now. I do great work. But, I ignore the FIESA crap. I've been off on those hour things constantly and never have I been threatened with termination or disciplinary action. Like I said, my work is nearly flawless...so if that's why I don't get threatened, who knows? Concentrate on your work. Follow account specs. Make sure it's accurate and to the best of your ability. They can't afford to lose you simply because their stupid charts and balances don't add up to you. This is JUST MY OPINION, so don't start bashing me. Voice your own opinion if you like.

Hey Nuance !!! This Is My Take On This New Pay Plan...
Dec 31, 2014

Just went back and studied all my pay statements since this new "Patient Safety Pay Plan" was implemented.  Here is what I found: My pay was a bit MORE when I was off the grid QA-wise at 98.8%, less than 10% to QC (barely), and higher-than-normal for me lines per hour (I busted arse; hence the lower QA score)...but...pay was HIGHER this way than when I was more careful, got 100% QA post audit scores, less than 10% QC, and about average-for-me lines per hour.  So much for your "P ...

Sick Over New Nuance QC Pay Plan
May 07, 2015

Sick over the new compensation plan.  The number of lines I would have to do to make what I'm used to making is impossible if we are doing full review since they are paying QC'd lines at half of actual line count.  I can't do 100% voice to text and fill in blanks on 250-300 lines an hour all day every day. Heck, back when we just filled in blanks only and did not do full review, we were considered good and meeting goals if we QC'd 220 lph.  No way to do that an ...

Nuance QC Compensation Plan
May 16, 2015

At Nuance, the caste system THRIVES. The deception of this company is criminal. For the last year, the QCs were required to meet the company standard metrics of 150+ LPH, quality of 99% or higher, schedule adherence of 99%. If you failed to meet any portion of the metrics one week, you received a verbal warning; two weeks, you were moved to the Performance Action Plan. On 5/4/2015, we received our individual QA Weekly Scorecard; we also received the QC Compensation Plan on the same day. With no ...

Offered Job At Nuance, Question About Pay Plan...
May 06, 2015

I was told that the position would be acute care and on the Escription platform.  Supposedly the majority of MTs on this account are making 10 cents a line.  I have since been doing a lot of research and see a lot of posts about how you are unable to make any money with Nuance.  I guess my question is do different platforms and accounts affect what your line compensation would be?  I need to make a decision and looking for some information.  Thanks.... ...

Webmedx/Nuance Pay Plan Unveiled Today.
Dec 13, 2011

It appears they have done away with our paid holidays.  We can work on holidays and have a bonus (if the facility is open and there is work).  If not, we have to take it out of our PTO or not get paid. My pay  by the new plan is cut from 9  typing and 5 voice recognition to 8 and 4 instead per line.  The incentive bonus requires 99% accuracy by QA audit, and 15% or less of reports going to QA, paid every 2 weeks.   ...

Nuance, Legitimate Bonus Plan??? Please Read.
Jan 03, 2012

My opinion,  having been in the industry for over 30 years and after reading a few posts on this subject below. For years a good deal of MTSO's including Webmedx had in place bonus or incentive plans based on production ONLY. Such a plan most likely helped Webmedx win "employer of the year" for years. Employees would go the extra mile even working through breaks to achieve higher line counts while at the same time the newer employees could look forward to gaining more experience and e ...

This means 65% will see decrease and/or paid minimum wage.
