For constantly getting no jobs on your shift anymore?  This is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!  It has been since December and is just getting constantly worse!  My shift is supposed to be 5 hours and I very rarely get more than 2.5 hours of work, tonight just 2 hours!  My supervisor says she has too many MTs in our group, SO WHY AREN'T WE MOVING PEOPLE AROUND!?  There must be something legally that can be done about this!  It is totally unfair!  I have worked for this company for over 10 years and have never been so disgusted with it as I am now!  Soooo frustrating!

That is what should be illegal, not providing the ones you have with work but still hiring others.

My opinion... they are starving out the higher paid MTs. Just makes no sense though. You would have to hire 2 new MTs at 4 cpl to cover the amount of work I do in an hour, and I certainly dont make 8 cpl doing ASR!

From what I understand the goal of the company was to send as much work to India as possible with just a 'skeleton' crew in the US. Looks to me that Operation Skeleton is well under way. That doesn't mean they don't need a good-sized team here, but one has to be blind not to see the trend and MORE IMPORTANT: naive to believe any explanations or excuses... Does anyone really think Mmodal mgmt is going to admit to the plan? They need us in the US until they don't. Do with this what you will ;)

if they were planning to phase out the US-based MT's. She responded with a horrified "oh my goodness, no!!!" Then went on with the usual BS about how it's the holidays, work will pick up, yada yada...sickening. Sometimes I have to wonder if *they* even know what's going on. I mean, they're so convincing, like they really believe the crap they're spewing.

Cable and electric are need to keep my job going and so I work to pay these bills and the money I have barely leftover from my paychecks goes to food I eat at my desk and paying the sewer company to go poop.

Yep, it is a vicious cycle working for this company. My husband says I basically work for free for this company.

Yes there is - look up a post by someone called Turning Worm and follow her directions. You can report your hours to your Labor Department and if you can prove them by getting a printout of your timesheet, you might be able to recover some wages.

I have been with this company for 20 years. About 2-1/2 years ago, I was like you, DISGUSTED with this company.

I ran out of work for 3 months straight 2-1/2 years ago during the summer and I was super lucky to get $100.00 paychecks. I complained, I constantly emailed and called.. but no responses.

I would get very angry and then the anger turned to crying episodes and anxiety. Finally, I picked myself up and RAN to a community college. I walked in the school ashamed for staying with this company for so long, angry because I did not do something sooner with my life, and embarrassed because of my age.

I started taking 1 class and then the next semester had 4 classes. I am almost done with college and will be glad to get the heck out of here.

What is so ridiculous is just recently I was moved to another manager with new accounts and have not been running out of work, except weekends. Too late though for this company because they blew it. It is the company's loss as they will be losing a great MT soon because I am so done with this sweat job company and the corporate board of directors purchasing brand new 4 million dollar homes, yet our pay goes down because the company has to cut costs. Google and you fill find VD 2 homes and the princess' home on line. I am so done being treated like crap.

with same company and now I get same pay as a newbie? I am still waiting for the Princess response on this. I had 3 raises in 25 years and I DESERVED those raises and fought for those raises. Then after ANOTHER merge (been with same company from day one) most of us were given a letter stating we were GRANDFATHERED INTO the company and EVERYBODY had to make the same wages.

Makes me mad when I read how some MTs are being starved out because of higher pay as I was told ALL MTs are to make the same pay since the grandfathered in thing came about.

Wow, 3 raises? I have been working for 14 years and have gotten zero...okay well maybe one slight increase when the company I worked for was bought out by Medquist, but that was minimal. I've asked but was always told to test up or they think as your speed increases you will make more...I think I'm as fast as I'm going to be. I never got too upset about no raise since I was making good money 10 years ago,even 5 years ago wasn't bad...its horrible that I've been working for this company for that long and my pay is so much less now than in the beginning. Been looking for something new, believe me, jobs just aren't easy to get anymore.

I got a HUGE *pay cut* when MQ bought out my company, to the tune of over $600 a month. I used to get incentives for production, plus a very good pay rate with my old company. That all disappeared thanks to MQ. I also used to have work! As far as I'm concerned the only thing MQ/MM is the leader in is job loss/unhappy MTs. Funny considering we're the reason they even have a company. I know they're into developing VR and everything now, but didn't it START with transcription??

MedQuist has steadily decreased its pay for speech recognition to a level that forces experienced medical transcriptionists into poverty.  Currently, speech recognition at 300 lines per hour pays less than that earned by a nursing assistant with only 2 weeks of training.
