Nuance Transcription Services - anyone knows about them - Gina

has anyone heard of Nuance? They supposedly have added Transcend Services to their company. I saw an ad where they are hiring, and just wondered if anyone knows about them. Been with my company now for several years, but keep running out of work, and so I'm looking elsewhere. thanks !

I had quit at Medquist and then decided to get back into doing transcription and have been with Nuance for just a few months but for one am very happy. They have me on 3 accounts and yes there are times when I may run out of work but it lasts for only a very short period of time and I have a very good relationship with my team leader who is very helpful. I have no complaints so far

You come in thinking I am a great MT and have NEVER had trouble with QA.

Let me assure you, Nuance is a whole new kettle of fish. QA is a NIGHTMARE!!!!

I had a choice between Transolutions and Nuance and I STUPIDLY chose Nuance due to a great schedule. SO NOT WORTH IT.

My work is consistent, I have a team supervisor that I like, I am happy with the platform (there are several at Nuance). No complaints from me.

Apparently Gina has not been with them along enough to know, yes I had some good supers, but overall the company has gone downhill majorly in the treatment of MTs. Run, run as fast as you can in another direction. Check other comments about the company from present/former employees on here. Gina is one of the few-actually the only positive one I have seen for months.

I also have fantastic team lead and I rarely if ever run out of work; however, the pay is still minimum wage and the QA is honestly the worst I have ever endured.

I have been an MT for 17 years and my QA has always been top notch. I can type anything and anyone. Even worked in QA for quite some time.

The QA is just a giant clusterfluff. Maybe some accounts are different but the 3 I have been on have all had very nitpicky and inconsistent QA.

No respect for MTs and use of your own mind and judgement is not encouraged.

I have been a MT for over 20 years. I lost my job last year and took the first job offered - Nuance. What a mistake. Crappy pay and the QAs - OMG - what a nightmare. The only way I get through this is I try to make enough money to cover my bills (husband has an income, I do not pay any attention to that FIESA crap or the QA crap.

I'm here to make a paycheck until I can find a totally different job.

I had worked at JLG for 3 years and got along really well there. Then it was swallowed up by Medquist in 9/2011. I stuck it out for 3 months and saw signs of the work disappearing (on accounts I had worked for a long time). So in my great wisdom I decided to work for WebmedX knowing full well they were "absorbed" by Nuance.
My first TL sucked -- sent out rah-rah emails 2-3 times a day, NEVER answered one of my emails, NEVER answered one of my phone calls. Thank God he finally moved up in the company (wouldn't ya know) and I now have a TL who is awesome. However the pay is crap and the insurance benefits likewise. They say they will pay 25% for holidays but SURPRISE there is rarely any work on holidays.
Bottom line, I made a huge mistake. Don't you make the same one. Best of luck.

I'm not one of the fastest, but my production has always been well above average, and I'm hurting. How on earth people newer to the field are managing, I can't imagine.

I thought they were 2 different services. Everyone is buying out everyone, so who knows. All the small companies have been merged I guess. I thought Nuance was out of New York and were the primary with VR. Maybe one has to keep up with the changes and be a member and pay the dues and go to the meetings with AAMT and be a CMT to keep up with the changes, even though you still get 4 cents. ...

I formally worked for Transcend Services and would advise people not to work for this organization. They are now switching over to Nuance, but stay away from them. They are extremely critical of everything you do. This is supposedly because they think they have such high standards, but they just enjoy being mean and critical to transcriptionists, who pay everyone's salaries.
