Especially when they are done by Offshore QA - auditing me - and marking errors that I really do not think I would make and/or miss. A drug dosage off by 700 MG?? I don't think so - not after 20 years!!! UGH - If this is what is going to happen the next few days, I may just not check my email!

I hate getting them for things you sent to QA for assistance with. *Amazing* you only get those nastygrams overnight too - never during day/evening when the US QA teams are working. I've gotten to where I just hit "delete" as soon as I see that e-mail and don't even read it.

I know what you mean. I remember certain reports that I sent to QA and, voila! it comes back as a major error. What's up with that? I just forward to my supervisor and refute it.

Wow. I gotta tell you, I NEVER saw that coming. well, you know in the Indian culture it is okay to lie. Especailly if it is for a good reason.

I figured they'd just (after we helped them get up to speed) cut the US MT out. But I also never envisioned the Indians buying American MT Services, either. Everybody's after that bigger slice of pie, but no one can get their piece (and mine, too, I guess) without a little help.

I asked my supervisor about this and she said all US MT work is proofed by US QA. But then again, it's not the first untruth I've been told.

I personally know 2 QA who were with another company bought out by Nuance that have told me that their evaluation is in fact done by Indian QA....and they are disgusted, looking to get out also.

That would sure explain the number of times - the "corrections" are INCORRECT! n/m

That - yes - post audits (to get our QA scores) can be done by offshore QA/QC. He said that for the most part, pre-delivery checks were supposed to be done by onshore workers, but couldn't swear to that fact. He did, however, say for sure that offshore QAs do audit / correct onshore MTs and even some QCs. As a worker, that really upsets me - it's bad enough to have them doing our work, but to be corrected by them is more than I can swallow!

It gets better. They won't let US QA any offshore work. - disgusting

After I started looking and remembering certain particular difficult dictations and so called "errors" that I had that I know that I have blanked that I am now marked off 1-3 points for that I know was a blank. I refute it and I am assured that I did not have a blank there, only I know that I did! The MT is always, in any situation, made to look like just a dumb office worker. Most errors regardless are always a point or more...and most errors are not even errors!!

Our QA is in fact in India, it has been for years dating back to while it was Focus.

"THEM" aren't our enemies. They're employees - getting screwed over too. Wise up.

I used to get pissed off at them too, but then I started thinking, they need work also, and unfortunately, US companies are giving them work due to greed and so they can pay them less than us. They need work just like us. What do we expect them to do, turn the work down?

I don't even bother to read them anymore. In fact, - I have my email set up

so that it directs them to a folder that automatically deletes everything in it when I close my email program. Saves me a LOT of stress and I simply concentrate on the best report I can possibly do for the client. Trying to make all QA people happy is like running around in circles and never getting anywhere. None of them QA the same way with the same rules and it's impossible to get the same feedback on the same error twice. Don't stress yourself out over it. You'll never get that incentive bonus, if that's what you're after. It sucks, I know. :(

I have a friend who is a nurse who wants to get into medical transcripting. Since she has a lot of background, she doesn’t think it would take her long. I had a bad experience with the company that trained me, so I was wondering what you guys would recommend for her? Here's my dilemma. QA/audit/whatever says that Alzheimer disease is the proper usage. Webmd, Mayo, NIH, and the disease webites, alz.com Alzheimer's website says it is Alzheimer's disease. A few weeks ago, for no reason that I can find, I cannot get the first letter of a sentence to be in all caps automatically, (unless I do it manually.) The same for the letter " I " by itself when typed. It was always automatic and now all of a sudden it is doing this and I cannot figure out how to change it back. MY VENT TODAY: I hate QA, I hate my job. My pay is HALF of what it was 15 years ago and I get picked and PICKED AND HOUNDED to death on meaningless garbage in a report. I type a lot of crap, but just had the worst doc I think I ever had. Had 11 QA markers so I sent it to QA thinking they might actually LIKE getting some work since they are about to be history. Anyways, this bi*ch marked 2 CRITICAL ERRORS and did an audit on it (which was still 96.5% in spite of everything I am glad to say). QA you wonder why we have such a bad attitude? I spend a lot of time typing for a huge university hospital clinic with no ADT. Have to type in all patient information. Almost every report is a LETTER. Referring physician has to be typed into the ADT. Then the letter recipient information has to be typed in and lo and behold have to re-type it into the cc list for the doc to get a copy of the letter. I wonder why I can't run a decent line count?
