I mean really, I have been doing this for like 15 long ass years.. And NEVER have I felt so stupid in my life..I used to make almost 36 K a year, depending on how hard I wanted to work..I work my ass of for this company and, welll, I have yet to check my W2s cause it will make me sick..Im so SORRY your all in the same boat, but at least I am not as dumb as I was beginning to think..

For some reason, I think of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, not wanting to open the candy bar, to see if there is a golden ticket in it...but instead of a golden ticket, in our W2s we're going to find...a whole year of work...FOR WHAT...a pittance. I mean, it's humiliating. I shouldn't feel humiliated, the company I work for should be ashamed...but they're not.

Finally looked back on my records and I hadn't made that amount since 1992.

I made $26,000 my first year of work in 1995. sm - Tier 3 MT, whopee.

Which is exactly the same amount I made last year. I made $13,000 with MQ and took $13,000 out of my 401K, which is actually my divorce settlement money. Just one year until I can collect social security and use this job as my "part-time" job.

I so depressed I can't stand it.

When I look back even 10 years, see what I made then compared to now, I could just cry. All this work for nothing. I always said I'd work until full retirement age but hell no. I'm checking out as soon as I turn 62 and will work part-time anywhere but here. Once I am retired fully, I'll draw my husband's SS since it is better than what I'll get.

As a part-timer due to not being able to meet their line requirements all the time, I have increased my production to meet their part-time requirements. So, with that being said, I have increased my production but my take home is less as they have reduced my SR and straight typing wages repeatedly. I am producing more for less and now they are going to shadow us. Tier 3, worst ESL dictators 100% of the time. I made more in the 80's in a print shop. Makes my head spin.

When I left a hospital in 1998 I made $9 an hour and barely making $10 14 years later here. nm - so sad.

When I left a state hospital in 1997, - I made $10.69/hr

and that was low wages because of it being a state job. Now, here I am all these years later making 13.09/hour. And a lot older and a lot harder to find a job. Maybe we need to open a commune for MTs so we can band together and have a place to live.

MY VENT TODAY: I hate QA, I hate my job. My pay is HALF of what it was 15 years ago and I get picked and PICKED AND HOUNDED to death on meaningless garbage in a report. I type a lot of crap, but just had the worst doc I think I ever had. Had 11 QA markers so I sent it to QA thinking they might actually LIKE getting some work since they are about to be history. Anyways, this bi*ch marked 2 CRITICAL ERRORS and did an audit on it (which was still 96.5% in spite of everything I am glad to say). QA you wonder why we have such a bad attitude? I spend a lot of time typing for a huge university hospital clinic with no ADT. Have to type in all patient information. Almost every report is a LETTER. Referring physician has to be typed into the ADT. Then the letter recipient information has to be typed in and lo and behold have to re-type it into the cc list for the doc to get a copy of the letter. I wonder why I can't run a decent line count? Don't you just hate it when you've got a dictation that is so fraught with static, and it sounds like the dictator is 100 miles away from the phone, but you actually can make out the words, just barely, and you'd love to leave all blanks because it's such a chore to hear any of it, but you can't, of course, because you can make it out? I've been an MT since 2000. Each year I see my pay go down. I've been with 2 big MT companies now and it seems like they are very similar in regard to the fact that they like to screw over their MTs. I wish somebody would figure out a way to train new hires other than setting them down with only a few hours training and letting them type their entire shift without a word from anyone, only to have QA come in the next morning and correct all the reports. I was just chatting with someone about transcription and ASR (it's been about 3 months since we switched) and it came to me what my biggest problem with it is. We have no control over it. With regular transcription, we are only limited by the quality of the dictation the sound. It slows my computer way down. I was typing a little while ago and all of a sudden the word I had just typed disappeared and the line above it was doubled! When I scrolled up and down the page it just got worse. It was about 2 minutes before it fixed itself and I was able to put the cursor in the correct place and finish the report. And I agree with everyone else here, the doctor lookup is a joke! Just a time-waster and too many keystrokes. Why would they do this to us? I just ignore that new ...
