Hate DQS 7.1 - vent

My line count is in the toilet, it has slowed my computer down. The spell check is missing things like doubled words. The headers are ridiculous. AND I use the mouse a lot more because half the time the arrow keys don't seem to work. This SUCKS

I agree. The only good thing is the report look up - Is anyone else having this problem?

When I try to use google (Ctrl + 1) or like drugs.com (Ctrl + 4) it is SO SLOW!!! My audio and foot pedal stop working, it wont connect, takes over a minute to connect.

Also, why are there no spaces between headings on ASR jobs? Do we have to enter these in ourselves or does back-end formatting do that?

I have deleted text somehow, still cant figure out how, all the time with 7.1. I dont know the key combination or what I am doing as to why it deletes text.

Today I deleted the entire middle of a report. UGH. I keept deleting the ADT page also... SUCKS

audio goes by itself like a possessed demon. Also, can't get to some of my expansions. I can see them, but can't put them in the report.
ALSO, my CCM IS MIA, as USUAL!!!!!

ONE expansion that will not work and that is the word "with." I have deleted it and put it back in several times to no avail.

As far as the google feature, I have noticed that it works just fine for like the first few hours of my shift then after I have been on for about 7hrs or more it starts to slow down when I use the CTRL 1 feature. So now I only use it for like the first few hours of my shift and then I open a seperate google page for look-ups like I did in DQS6. I dont use drugs.com.

As far as the spaces/paragraphs between headings, that formats on the back-end. Dont worry about that, no need to add those.

Another create remedy tickets for these issues - if they get enough of them they will fix.

I suspect it will get better with up-dates, but in the meantime we have to let them know the issues that we are having so that they can fix those things too.

The reason it slows down after more use - same reason ASR slowed for long reports

I had one of the old computers that would eventually just crawl when doing a really long ASR report with lots of edits. I was finally told by a techie that it was because when making edits, the computer stores every change made to that report and keeps a log; the more edits to the report, the more memory is used up, and the slower it gets.

The reason that the search features slow down is the same reason: Every search and action you do is being logged and probably saved to your profile for them to pick at later.

What the H is up with the ASR?! - Trampled underfoot

I just had an ASR report that was missing HUGE chunks of the dictation, like several sentences in a row. I'm not talking about the wrong words being there, but no words at all. It just skips over maybe 20-30 seconds of dictation and then picks up again later. I have to fill in several sentences and then try to see where the ASR jumped back in. It's insanity.

One of my supervisors gave me the trick of hitting Ctrl ; (control and semicolon at the same time). This seems to fix the problem, but you will have to do it on any subsequent reports if you need it, as it is not a permanent fix.

MY VENT TODAY: I hate QA, I hate my job. My pay is HALF of what it was 15 years ago and I get picked and PICKED AND HOUNDED to death on meaningless garbage in a report. I type a lot of crap, but just had the worst doc I think I ever had. Had 11 QA markers so I sent it to QA thinking they might actually LIKE getting some work since they are about to be history. Anyways, this bi*ch marked 2 CRITICAL ERRORS and did an audit on it (which was still 96.5% in spite of everything I am glad to say). QA you wonder why we have such a bad attitude? I spend a lot of time typing for a huge university hospital clinic with no ADT. Have to type in all patient information. Almost every report is a LETTER. Referring physician has to be typed into the ADT. Then the letter recipient information has to be typed in and lo and behold have to re-type it into the cc list for the doc to get a copy of the letter. I wonder why I can't run a decent line count? I have been at Nuance 4 months and don't know how I am going to go through another week there. I wish somebody would figure out a way to train new hires other than setting them down with only a few hours training and letting them type their entire shift without a word from anyone, only to have QA come in the next morning and correct all the reports. I was just chatting with someone about transcription and ASR (it's been about 3 months since we switched) and it came to me what my biggest problem with it is. We have no control over it. With regular transcription, we are only limited by the quality of the dictation the sound. It slows my computer way down. I was typing a little while ago and all of a sudden the word I had just typed disappeared and the line above it was doubled! When I scrolled up and down the page it just got worse. It was about 2 minutes before it fixed itself and I was able to put the cursor in the correct place and finish the report.
