That is so true! That being said, I quit Nuance today without notice and I know that's inappropriate but I was tired of the "abuse" and their expectations with their only concern being TAT so the supervisors can look good - it is important to complete reports in a timely fashion so the patient has good care and we should respect our supervisors but the respect should be a two-way street and it just isn't on the map. Some of us have been working in this field for decades (like myself) and I am just so tired of "being put upon." Admittedly, my quitting was done during a burst of anger but it has been on my mind a while now and one gets so tired of the e-mails back and forth, so child-like. It would only take a 5-minute telephone call.
What matters is my peace of mind, integrity and happiness. Having quit, I feel a sense of calm and feel totally at ease even though this all transpired just a few hours ago.
So, seeing what Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. quoted seems to wrap up this whole deal.
Something else will turn up work-wise when the time and situation are right. "Things happen for a reason."

I tested for Nuance and didn't pass. Got the canned e-mail. I sent back a rather heated e-mail, just more-or-less to have my say. I get an e-mail about two weeks later, asking if I would be interested in working for Nuance. By this time, I had read all the posts and even put a couple in myself and decided it was best that I didn't pass. I wrote back to the recruiter and laid it out; many, many complaints, horrible dictators, horrible supervors, horrible pay, etc. She e-mails me back and says, Nuance has over 5000 MTs and you just can't please everyone. I told her she should check MTStars to see what MTs are saying about her company. Never heard back, but at least, once again, I had my say and moved on!
Yes, you probably will get bashed. - And for good reason.

These days there's only one way to be "happy" working at an MTSO, which would be to not be working for them as an MT.
post - happy

I am not sure what goes on with most of you at Nuance but I make great money on VR there. More than my day job which is MT. I am in no way telling my name that you see here because of the bashing but I have to say that I am making some bucks and I get paid the same. So not sure what is the issue. I have great accounts which helps.
It's absolutely your great accounts. - sm

Theres a reason I got paid so much more at Transcend. I had the worst of the worst accounts full of pickiness and weird requests, and I'd take anything my supervisors threw at me. I'd often have then ask if I could be assigned some more difficult doctors because the other MTs on the account were playing the avoidance game and taking breaks all at the same time when a group of Dr. Mushmouth came up. I was fine with that and was paid accordingly. Now Nuance comes in and wants to pay me the same thing as people like you with gravy accounts to do the same crap work. Not happening. They lost me and others like me who were willing to take all the junk as long as we were compensated appropriately. Just wait until the day when you lose those great accounts (and it will happen eventually as I had good ones too a couple of years ago). You'll be singing a different tune. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with being happy at Nuance if you're having a great experience. I'm happy for you if you are. But by coming on here and saying you don't understand what is wrong with people and you're making great money (on great accounts) and we're all just a bunch of negative people, you're asking to be bashed. I'm not going to do that, but you asked what the problem was, and I told you what mine was. If you've got good accounts, say your prayers for them every day and quit putting down those of us who aren't having the same experience as you are, or else dont complain if people "bash" you. I'd glady give you my account for a day so you can spend 2 hours a day doing volunteer work with all the extras that have to be done that we don't get paid for. It was okay when I was making $20 an hour on average to do that crap. It's not okay at $14, and others took a bigger hit than I did. I found another office job back at my $20 an hour and Nuance can kiss my @$$.
Ignore the attention troll. He/she said they have "great accounts," so they already know - exactly what the difference is.
Or she's just incredibly ignorant and truly doesn't get it. - sm

Which would explain why she thinks the crappy pay at Nuance is okay as long as everyone is making the same.

Did you come from Transcend or hired directly by Nuance? Glad you have great accounts but not always the case, and that is "what is going on." I took a pay cut coming from Transcend. One day I figured out the time it took me to deal with all of the specifics required and changing required when it was not done correctly by the physician, multiply that by a week and then by a month, and it was a considerable amount of free time that I was giving with no pay.
It's one thing to say you're happy with Nuance. It's another thing... - sm

...to say you're happy with Nuance and there must be something wrong with the rest of us who aren't. THAT is why you get bashed. Nobody can begrudge anyone for being happy at their job, even if it is Nuance. But you yourself say you've got great accounts. Understand this. Those are few and far between at the big nationals. You're lucky, plain and simple. To say there is something wrong with most of us because YOU are having a good experience is just plain ignorant and I have no doubt in my mind why people are bashing you whenever you post that you're happy. I used to be in your shoes at one time with great accounts where I was making around $40 an hour straight typing. Then VR came in and cut that by 25% with its jibberish junk it puts out (because management wants more VR so they set the quality percentage super low and we get insanely bad drafts). Then the good accounts were either lost by the company or went primarily to our Indian people. Then I got a bunch of junk accounts that constantly run out of work and are full of doctor that I can't believe can communicate with their patients. Nuance and their ridiculous " pay everyone the same" policy was my last straw. I'm getting out of MT for good. So, congratulations for having the good accounts and being happy. But I would highly advise you stop acting like people who don't share your luck aren't doing their job correctly if you don't want to be bashed. Accounts make all the difference.
Did not know if gay marriage was legal in that state (PA) but it was certainly what was said.,, so I didn't want to flag it either. Fortunately, I no longer work for Nuance. No telling what kind of dings I wold have gotten for that. ...
I'm very excited to venture out of the home, moving in a direction I will be appreciated by someone and feel I have a purpose. It is not a pleasant job for most, but I am pleased and excited I chose it. I have finished my CNA course and take my state test tomorrow bright and early. If I pass, I will be on a journey for new employment in about two weeks. From there, my education will continue and most likely it will be paid. I will also have the opportunity to g ...
well, I have now begun to experience the petty QA dings. A lab value "of" vs lab value "is", and removal of a comma. And in one report, three terms that are easily found were blanked as if QA did not know what they were. Well I knew! Man, I am so glad I am out of here. ...
Especially when they are done by Offshore QA - auditing me - and marking errors that I really do not think I would make and/or miss. A drug dosage off by 700 MG?? I don't think so - not after 20 years!!! UGH - If this is what is going to happen the next few days, I may just not check my email! ...
I have a friend who is a nurse who wants to get into medical transcripting. Since she has a lot of background, she doesn’t think it would take her long. I had a bad experience with the company that trained me, so I was wondering what you guys would recommend for her? Do you know of any companies that train then give live work or know of a low-cost school?I let her know that most companies require 3 years experience, so do you know of anyone who hires fresh MTs?Thanks in advance! ...
Those getting 99.49 or not getting line count will be out the door. This is how they will dump us. In comparison to India and Korea, we are over paid numbers, not people. This company has lost all values where their US employees are concerned. Wonder what the CEOs bonus will be this year for running the company into the ground? Good work Sir. Can you say greed? ...
Here's my dilemma. QA/audit/whatever says that Alzheimer disease is the proper usage. Webmd, Mayo, NIH, and the disease webites, alz.com Alzheimer's website says it is Alzheimer's disease. Same thing with Parkinson's (pdf.org), Crohn's (CCFA.org) etc., etc. Always the apostrophe regardless. What is everyone else doing and have you been corrected one way or the other? ...
I'm assuming we'll be asked to play a cutsie game every day and we'll be told ad nauseum how wonderful we are and how much we're appreciated. BLAH-BLAH-BLAH. Here's an idea: We already know we don't rate a bonus or a gift card so honor us by paying us a freakin' LIVING WAGE! My metrics accuracy score was 98.9% this week so I was told I need to work on my quality LOL. Yeah, that 0.1%--possibly due to not crossing a 'T' or dotting an 'I' ( ...
I would greatly appreciate any advice on how to get trained, the best training programs & how to eventually get hired as an MT.
I have zero medical background, so the right training program is critical & this is a huge commitment & the training is pricey so I want to get it right.
Thanks in advance......... ...
I was wondering if anyone has heard the date when Andrews will begin their ICD-10 program.
I also have been told that is critically important to know both ICD-9 and ICD-10. Do you agree, and why? ...
I just could not even get through the email without throwing up a little in my mouth. Cadence of communications? Is that why we have no comp plan yet? Future priorities? Like what a new office space or more team building exercises? Are we the MTs even on that list of priorities? And my absolute favorite- Proud to work for Mmodal? No. Not even close. Try embarrassed and ashamed and when people ask what I do I usually lie.

Love this! I don't live in a state that allows gay marriage so it makes my heart happy when I see it enter medical records. The world is finally changing in a good way. ...
I know and accept the fact (albeit grudgingly) that ASR and offshoring are the wave of the future, but do you think that as the economy improves that things will cycle and what we do will once again become valued with the recognition of our value being reflected in higher salaries? Or do you think that the unhappy reality is that regardless of the economy salaries will either remain stagnant or continue to trend downward?
Thanks in advance for your input. ...
A few weeks ago, for no reason that I can find, I cannot get the first letter of a sentence to be in all caps automatically, (unless I do it manually.) The same for the letter " I " by itself when typed. It was always automatic and now all of a sudden it is doing this and I cannot figure out how to change it back. Has anybody else had this problem, if so, how did you fix it?
Thanks, appreciate the help ...
