San Francisco voters approved a bill to raise the minimum wage to $15 yesterday! I hope no Nuance MT's live there (HA! Like a Nuance MT could afford to live in the most expensive city in the US). At the current line rates for editing, they'd have to produce over 375 LPH to not have make-up-pay!
I don't know for certain that Nuance has a federal contract, but assuming they do for their Dragon software (or speech recognition software, period), I wonder wonder if Nuance's new "exciting" stuff might be that they're splitting off the company so that they don't have to comply with Obama's executive order to pay a minimum of $10.10 to employees?
Again, I don't know if Nuance has a contract, and we all know our pay stubs and W2's actually say Transcend DBA Nuance, so maybe it's already a seperate company. Too bad the IRS doesn't have a rule that when the minimum wage increases, so should production pay.
