Hi, I did do as someone suggested and contacted via email Erin Brockovich, but we have to understand her organization does deal mostly with environmental litigation. I did try and summarize our difficulties and requested if she might direct us to an organization who might help us. In listing our complaints I found they were too numerous to list, and since we are virtual, I was not clear as to whether we could prove some of my/our accusations.
Realistically, with their (MedQuist) cost of legal proceedings and settlements in the year ending 2010 was 3.6 million, 1% of their net revenues (yes that is one percent), see page 30 of their annual report from a link previously given, which I will not repeat at this time; and after reading some of the litigation they described, it seemed like they were either able to buy out or pay off or "negotiate" their way out of any serious damages.
Are we abused by this company? Yes. Do we suffer emotion and mental stress from this company? I do - do you? Do we ever see that we will be able to join together and actually make a difference? Debatable, but not hopeful.
I am continuing to do what I had said previously I would do, but I will no longer spout out about it on here. We each have choices that we have to live with. I am unable to trek the 2-hour round trip out of my little town in the hills to a job that pays more since I am homeschooling and singlely caring for my two disabled children. I will need to continue receiving the abuse from MedQuist (Saturday I had a 6-hour shift for which I received 38 Radiology reports to type, and 3 to edit; Radiology reports are paid by the report, thus I did not even make minimum wage) and like a slave sit here at my computer during my scheduled hours, hoping, praying that another report will come through, another dollar I can make. My little town has one major business, a grocery store, and I will go and apply there in hopes of getting some part time work with minimum wage I can count on.
To MedQuist I say this: You may be able to control the amount of work I do, and you may be able to send me the longest reports in hopes that I will give up, and you can control my hours that I have to sit - unpaid - at your company-owned computer while you make millions of dollars off my (our) work. However, MedQuist, you will never own me, and who I am; you will never destroy the hope I have of a better company and a better America.
Intestingly though, MedQuist you need to know, you need to UNDERSTAND, that without us United States of America MTs and MMEs and any other production based US-side employees, YOU ARE NOTHING. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. You could ship every last report off-shore and you would soon be sued to the point of being penniless because of the off-shore inability to function without us state-side MTS/MMEs/etc.
Go for it MedQuist, I dare you.
Signed and sincerely, (I would gladly place my name here if I find I'm allowed).

PS: Coworkers, please don't hate me for daring them, you know they would fail without us. You have to trust that the greedy will eventually do themselves in.
