Are they making us want to quit, REALLY REALLY BAD? - 7th Child

Okay, I've been doing this for 20+ years now. I wasn't a fantastic transcriptionist but a decent one. I never wanted to believe the VR would take our place and was devastated when it did a few years ago. I am shocked by how bad it really is and how we just have to swallow the whole bunch of BS if we want to keep our job. I am constantly being harassed now. Some of the mistakes I make on FIESA are real, a good 40% though are bull, nit-pickin stuff that makes no difference. Then I get emails, calls, etc tearing me apart. When I slow down to do better I get calls that my production is down and my MUP is too high and I am CONSTANTLY THREATENED with being fired. Today I had a series of horrid horrid dictators! It took me forever to do this huge report and then I looked at it again because there were so so so many mistakes the VR made because it was a dictator who talked like she had had a bottle of vodka, mumbling, etc. I wish the Karma bomb would drop on this company. They have ruined my life as I knew it. The managers are all part of this greed driven soulless entity.

that never, ever, ever, calls me. I have not had any quality issues. Never asked to review prior work to make sure I don't commit the same error. Never an issue with anything. Just praise from my supervisor. Can you believe it? I'm actually treated as a professional adult! And get this, I'm working on a Nuance account!! hahaha. If LE in HR only knew she would crap in her pants! Anyway, the VR is much much better with this company and I don't know why except that it's not Nuance and it doesn't suck. There are other companies out there hiring. You are better than this piece of crap company.

I worked for Transcend/Nuance for about 5 years, and finally had enough this past summer. I have been with another MT company now for 7 months, and I am loving it. They give bonuses for hard dictators, for coming in when they are busier, no set schedule, and leave me alone unless it's something major or occasionally a "thank you" note for doing a good job. Please don't let Nuance spoil your joy of your job - find someone who will pay you what you are worth and will respect you! Those jobs are out there!

My account is shared with Nuance and the drafts are excellent, I don't get harrassed and all I also get is praise. Supervisor keeps saying "why did Nuance run you off?" I'm so much happier and glad I finally told them to stick the job where the sun doesn't shine.

Speaking from my own experience, having worked at Nuance for almost 2 years -- whenever I see any reference to products and software produced by Nuance, I immediately am reminded of the migraines suffered during my time working there. Have not suffered a migraine since leaving !! Beware. This has been my experience and I can see others have lived through similar bad memories with Nuance. Now this is no longer my problem, but just sending out a simple message: Beware.

What should we do to - COMBAT EVIL AT NUANCE?

Well put!!! I totally agree with you. It's like they harass us to the point where we quit; I am convinced that is what they want. As soon as you are comfortable, they throw a wrench in that. I have only been with MM for about 2-1/2 years, and I have had 4 HDSM/TSMs. It's ridiculous the way we are treated. I might be more inclined to stay if I made a decent wage, like 60-70K a year, but for what they pay us, it's not likely. Hoping to be outta here soon!!!

just so incompetent that they can't get a job at a decent place. That's why they play the corporate BS game that they do. They think it makes them appear to be in the know when it actually makes them look like fools to the higher ups. Soon the ones making the MT miserable will pay the price.

They can't fault you for now answering: If it's during your scheduled shift, you can't hear bec. you have on your earphones. If outside of your shift, you really don't need an explanation ... busy, not available, end of story.

A prior MTSO I worked for, AWA their tech support person, would often call me during the day, with "I need to get into YOUR computer for some updates, to check on something (I worked 2nd/3rd shifts).

This was on MY time. Often I would be sleeping, working on a 2nd job I needed, or just about to leave for a Dr's. appointment. But, no, this had to be addressed right away. They could have e-mailed me, also.

we all helped each other get through the hard dictators and we got paid by the hour. It felt like foreigners took over the transcription because nobody cared if we got paid or not, or if we needed help once in a while. The MTSO's are not team players.

And they seem to be getting worse by the day. I just finished a draft by one of the BEST dictators on my account that took me forever because of things like this:

ASR TRANSCRIBED: "PROCEDURE PERFORMED"

Like really?!? THAT DOESN'T EVEN REMOTELY SOUND THE SAME!

Agree completely. Get such bad headaches may need what VR referred to as "Kate" scan (CT scan). You have to either laugh or cry at this!

I am so serious. Everyone needs to quit transcribing for a while. We need to get this industry back to where we could actually make a decent living. This job has become so impossible to make any money. I am below min wage on SR, and now they are sending off a bunch of our accounts to Global. I'm juggling 2 MTSOs as an IC. I cannot sustain this for very long, the plan always was to stick with the better, more stable one and phase out the other one. At the first company (I'll just call it FC), the pickings were slim. They said that once I clear QA, I'll get a back up account and running out of work will not be an issue. Since the last thread is down the page I thought I would add this. I worked on very difficult accounts for the last 5 years and never had a problem with audits (failed 1 or 2 in 5 years). Then at the beginning of this month I was switched to a new BOB, was audited after 8 days on the account (98.1%) and immediately put on 100% QA which means I would be working for less than minimum wage. Anyone know the process of how to quit Nuance....if we have to give 2-week notice? My acceptance letter says "entitled to terminate employment at any time." Audit feedback T'ing me off, sorry. I fail to see how adding or leaving out "a" and "the" should be anywhere near a major category, downgrade or not. Absolutely none of the "errors" I am being dinged for have any effect on patient care.
