The stress is not worth it. My health is more important. I hope the rest of you who remain will be able to do whatever you need to do for yourself and your family - whether that means hanging in there, finding a new job, or being able to flat-out quit. No, I don't have another job, just took an early retirement. Getting older isn't so bad after all.

I was just sick of the monotonous work. I didn't need to give such a long notice but need to get things in order as I have another business. Good luck to you.

Wanted to wait and sell this house, think I an going to let it go to foreclosure and downsize sooner..My heath deserves better than this. Daily heart palpitations and sick to my stomach, just not worth it.

When you say "early" retirement, do you mean younger than 62? Just curious, because I am dying to do the same thing at 59-1/2, but scared to death....

Go to the Social Security website to see the earliest year you can retire. It will also tell you how much you will get each month. I don't think anyone is eligible (except under certain circumstances) to draw Social Security under the age of 62. You can still work and get SS, but there is a limit on how much you can make. So, part time jobs are good. If the website doesn't answer your questions, then call SS. They are rather busy, so they will give you the option of leaving your phone number and they will call you back. They called me back the same day. Seriously, for me, it was take this early SS or lose my health. I saw what stress did to my mother. So sad...she died at 58 of scleroderma and eventually cancer. Being disrespected and treated like c_ _ p by MModal is not worth it.

Good for you. I turned 62 last July and took early retirement and am working 20 hours a week in a grocery store where I have worked for the last 5 years. Took a part time job when MModal started to cut pay when they took over Spheris. It worth it to me to have them take the $200 per month for early retirement.

Was going to wait to be fired and collect unemployment, but I knew deep down that MM would twist the reason for firing me so that unemployment would be impossible. Decided the stress of waiting for the company to go under was not worth it and submitted my resignation. I will definitely continue to check in here and hope that those remaining will take care of themselves -- no job is worth an ulcer, heart attack or stroke!

I'm going to contact SS tomorrow. My husband was on disability when he passed away in 2008. We had been married for 17 years. At the time, I did not qualify for his disability because I was in my 50s. But now that I am 60 I may qualify. Wish me luck.

OK so my thoughts are.. If you get to the point that you care so little that you quit. Why not readjust your attitude to I DONT care and let them fire you? That is where I am. I care about patient care, I care about doing my reports to the best of my ability, but I dont care about their 99.7%. It is an unobtainable goal, for most of us anyway. I have my emails saved, I have my audits saved. If they want me gone, then get rid of me but I am fighting for U/E so you have to pay in some way, shape or form.

I was being left out of the good pooling of the work available. Then they lost one of our big accounts. Ended up getting work from 25 different hospitals, could not make the 150 lph and was fired (quality apparently was fine). Could not get unemployment initially. Appealed the ruling and waited months for the appeal hearing. Mmodal was a no show and based on the information I supplied, the decision was reversed. Have a part time job now so it worked out. Glad not to be working for them any longer. From what I read here, they have crossed the line with the audits. They are not being used as learning tools but as a form of abuse.

I am so serious. Everyone needs to quit transcribing for a while. We need to get this industry back to where we could actually make a decent living. I am making less money now than I did 15 years ago. It is absolutely ridiculous. This job has become so impossible to make any money. I am below min wage on SR, and now they are sending off a bunch of our accounts to Global. I'm juggling 2 MTSOs as an IC. I cannot sustain this for very long, the plan always was to stick with the better, more stable one and phase out the other one. At the first company (I'll just call it FC), the pickings were slim. They said that once I clear QA, I'll get a back up account and running out of work will not be an issue. Since the last thread is down the page I thought I would add this. I worked on very difficult accounts for the last 5 years and never had a problem with audits (failed 1 or 2 in 5 years). Then at the beginning of this month I was switched to a new BOB, was audited after 8 days on the account (98.1%) and immediately put on 100% QA which means I would be working for less than minimum wage. Anyone know the process of how to quit Nuance....if we have to give 2-week notice? My acceptance letter says "entitled to terminate employment at any time." Audit feedback T'ing me off, sorry. I fail to see how adding or leaving out "a" and "the" should be anywhere near a major category, downgrade or not. Absolutely none of the "errors" I am being dinged for have any effect on patient care. Is every MTSO in this field rotten, and do they really hate us? Does it bring them money to get people to quit and then rehire all the time? I am sure it is true. I got a really high, close to perfect score on my QA all the time. I type well above the standards.
