Can you get TAA if you quit? - spherite

This job has become so impossible to make any money. I am below min wage on SR, and now they are sending off a bunch of our accounts to Global. I technically still have work and have not been laid off. Is TAA possible if the company still has work for us to do? Can part-time workers get this too or only full-timers? Many thanks to anyone who answers this. I did read some of the DOL website but could not find this info.

for info. I think you can get it while working for Q because of the 80% offshore. There was a special petition for Q, but, from what people have said, you need to have the petition in hand because the people you apply with have no knowledge of this. Most important, is don't start training before the TAA. They have to pay for it before you start. I was proactive and had started retraining and thus was now ineligible. At that time, I think the Q petition was still in for approval. I think TAA will tell you right off the bat that you can't get it if you quit, you can't get TAA. That's why you need to go with the petition in hand. Read the TAA retraining at the top of this forum and you will be directed to the link. It is a collection of info that was on the forum some time ago that the moderator was kind enough to put up so we don't have to keep asking.

The only thing good about me not waiting for TAA (at that time you had to be laid off) is I have finished my retraining this summer and would be a year behind that if I had waited.

File for unemployment immediately, spare no details, be very specific because these documents will come up at your TAA hearing; Money lost, below min wage, lack of contact with supervisors, lack of work to keep up with minimum line requirements, etc. Spare no detail.
Appeal if necessary.
Contact TAA coordinator at your UI office and arrange an appointment, government petition certification in hand.
File for TAA, even if they say you don't qualify.
Appeal (you will have to appeal).
Go to hearing with petition in hand, SEC filings pertinent to the Spheris and Cbay filings, etc.
In the meantime you will need to fill out a retraining proposal packet and the TAA counselor will show you how to fill that out. There is a timely filing requirement for the retraining packet you have to propose.
Your TAA counselor is neutral, so they can be contacted throughout the process for help in filling out paperwork.
Follow all UI job search requirements and filing requirements.

The entire process will take about 6 months. Then you go back to school, up to 2 years, paid in full, with UI benefits for 2 years.

I am so serious. Everyone needs to quit transcribing for a while. We need to get this industry back to where we could actually make a decent living. I'm juggling 2 MTSOs as an IC. I cannot sustain this for very long, the plan always was to stick with the better, more stable one and phase out the other one.
