Question for those who quit or on way out - manager contact info?

I finally got serious, got my resume together and started applying for other jobs. Did you all put your current CCM's info down and give permission for the new potential job to contact them or not? I feel stuck here- either say yes and have my CCM of all of 2 months hold the power because I have no idea what she will say (and I really don't want to tip my hand that I plan on leaving) or say no and have the new job question my reasoning for saying no. I am just curious on what you did and how it turned out.

When I got my part-time job 2 years ago, all I had to do was state I worked for the Q and I got multiple responses from people that they know what is going on there and didn't ask another question. Just state the number of years of service and no contact info. If they ask why you are leaving, say that they are Offshoring your work.

I put down that I worked there, and said "no" to contact information because my supe had it in for me. I realize they can't slam you (it's law), but they can give the impression that they weren't happy and also stay within legal limits. (Example: Potential employer asks, "would you hire her back?" Present supe can say "no," and still be considered as giving an acceptable response. That's a way around it for employers.)

That being said, what I did do was contact an ex-supervisor from the Q who I had a good rapport with and asked her if I could use her, she said "Yes." I also contacted my first place of employment from several years ago, and asked that supervisor, so I had 2 good references.

there that I knew I would get a good reference from. Also, I said DO NOT contact my current employer. Like another poster said, everyone knows about the Q.

I have tried to get in contact with several I have lost, just to see if I could get a letter or reference or give as reference and I never get responses - I thought MQ must have some kind of contract that they cannot talk to us.

and kept in touch with her after she left as we were friends in teh local office before the Q bought us out. Also used our office manager from the old office too. She was a "higher up" person in the Q and quit just before I did because of the way they were treating the MTs.

I had stayed in touch with my favorite supervisor. There was a huge layoff at one point, and she got laid off--or perhaps she quit, I can't quite remember. In any event, I always liked her so much, so I would just call her now and then after she left (not a lot, once or twice maybe over a couple of years). When it came time for me to quit, I still had her cell # so I called her.

The supervisor from way back and I remained friends of sorts, so when I called and asked her if she would also be a reference, it was no problem.

Things are different there now. Nothing is personalized anymore between supes and MTs. That was my experience, anyway, around the time I left. Things were different years ago.

I list my CCM as my supervisor on applications, but only put THE WORK NUMBER as the phone number. Things can easily be verified. I said sure, you can contact them. I have done an outstanding job for them and they can't say anything else. They don't deserve me. I actually wanted them to know I was looking.

I am so serious. Everyone needs to quit transcribing for a while. We need to get this industry back to where we could actually make a decent living. I am making less money now than I did 15 years ago. It is absolutely ridiculous. This job has become so impossible to make any money. I am below min wage on SR, and now they are sending off a bunch of our accounts to Global. I'm juggling 2 MTSOs as an IC. I cannot sustain this for very long, the plan always was to stick with the better, more stable one and phase out the other one. At the first company (I'll just call it FC), the pickings were slim. They said that once I clear QA, I'll get a back up account and running out of work will not be an issue. Since the last thread is down the page I thought I would add this. I worked on very difficult accounts for the last 5 years and never had a problem with audits (failed 1 or 2 in 5 years). Then at the beginning of this month I was switched to a new BOB, was audited after 8 days on the account (98.1%) and immediately put on 100% QA which means I would be working for less than minimum wage. Anyone know the process of how to quit Nuance....if we have to give 2-week notice? My acceptance letter says "entitled to terminate employment at any time." Audit feedback T'ing me off, sorry. I fail to see how adding or leaving out "a" and "the" should be anywhere near a major category, downgrade or not.
