Why I quit - old and burned out

Since the last thread is down the page I thought I would add this.
I worked on very difficult accounts for the last 5 years and never had a problem with audits (failed 1 or 2 in 5 years). Then at the beginning of this month I was switched to a new BOB, was audited after 8 days on the account (98.1%) and immediately put on 100% QA which means I would be working for less than minimum wage. Since the vast majority of my work is above the 99.5% they arbitrarily require, they would be getting all that perfect or near-perfect work for 3 cpl (my rate was 10/6) and they would only have to correct the very worst dictators. I refused to do this.

[ In Reply To ..]I do have a tendency to hang onto things for too long and I've worked either part or full time since the age of 15, getting myself through college then getting my kids through college, etc. I'm just used to working - but not for minimum wage.

Lord knows, I stayed in a marriage which seemed like forever, when I should have walked out the first year, better yet, never walked down the aisle in the first place. [ In Reply To ..]It's a win-win situation for them. They know if they put you on 100% QA they get your near-perfect work for pennies like they pay the Indians. OR you quit and they don't have to lay you off and have you go on unemployment, which they DO have to pay for. This is nothing new for this company. When you quit, (I see you were considered higher paid at 10/6), they can then turn around and hire someone at 8/4.
I understand your quitting--I would hate to work for them for even a couple weeks at that rate--but I would refuse to quit and not be eligible for unemployment while looking for another job. I would WANT them to have to pay for your UI. They are so freakin' greedy, unscrupulous, and are a bunch of scheisters....I hope they crash and burn SOON....and they most likely will.

[ In Reply To ..]You are one smart cookie Kiki. That's exactly what they want. I used to make about $30-35 an hour. I'm lucky to make $12 working for MM. After 30 years in this business, that's slave wages as far as I'm concerned. They have no morals. I hope they burn.

I'm juggling 2 MTSOs as an IC. I cannot sustain this for very long, the plan always was to stick with the better, more stable one and phase out the other one. At the first company (I'll just call it FC), the pickings were slim. They said that once I clear QA, I'll get a back up account and running out of work will not be an issue. Audit feedback T'ing me off, sorry. I fail to see how adding or leaving out "a" and "the" should be anywhere near a major category, downgrade or not. Is every MTSO in this field rotten, and do they really hate us? Does it bring them money to get people to quit and then rehire all the time? I am sure it is true. I got a really high, close to perfect score on my QA all the time. I type well above the standards. At this point I'd make more money waiting tables even though I'm older. It's crazy. With the VR I'm working double the hours for half the pay.
