I really think my MTSO wants us to all quit - MTtiredofitall

Is every MTSO in this field rotten, and do they really hate us?

Does it bring them money to get people to quit and then rehire all the time?

I am sure it is true. I got a really high, close to perfect score on my QA all the time. I type well above the standards. I even went to part time so they would not have to pay me benefits and work all weekend every weekend to make sure I have work.

Now again a hiring spree and even Friday no work, except of course I get the worst reports EVER. It is like they want me to quit. I agreed to go part time, because there was no work. I agreed to let benefits go from the start because they would not send me info and answer my e mails. I even agreed to work every weekend forever! Now this.

This is not the only company. Is this a nightmare? Am I imagining this? I have tried everything and last week got less than 100.00 in my pay. It has to be me. It really does! Anybody else have any idea why it benefits an MTSO to have constant turn over, because I am trying to hold on for dear life and it is wringing the life out of me!

I am beginning to think you are right, after experiencing being laid off when all of my team leaders begged the management to let me stay, as know Op reports and can do neuro diagnostic tests, which many of them could not. No it was not to be. They did not care who did what. Thus many reports are out of TAT cuz nobody know how to do them. I guess it is their loss.

Anyway to above poster, have you thought about training for some other career. I know in my state they will pay for your babysitter, help you with transportation and about anything under the sun, just so you can get new job skills. You should really check into this. I live in California, but I am sure the other states must have programs like this.

Good luck. We need to get out of this profession and not let these MTSO's keep humiliating us and victimizing us. We do not have to put up with this any longer, unless you really like being treated that way.

Yes. I decided to go to school for coding. I am also going to graduate school, but I need money to eat and pay rent. I figured coding is a decent job, but I sure hope that there will be no disrespect, and cheating in that part of the hospital, because this is really getting old. I have been an MT for a long time, and, though I was thinking of applying at McDonald's today, I just got an IC job instead and hope that will work out. Sigh. Thanks for your nice words.

There are decent companies out there but - you really have to dig to find them.

I agree with you. These MTSOs are getting out of hand. I really thought my MT career was over and it was upsetting because I love what I do. But then I started looking away from the "usual" job sites because most of the jobs on there were from the larger companies. I went to a site dedicated to companies who only hire US MTs and do not outsource at all. I applied to every single one of them even though I had not heard of many of them. I ended up landing a job with decent pay, very good benefits and plenty of work that stays in America!

There are companies that know how to treat MTs and they understand that by treating us with the dignity and respect we deserve as professionals we stay...and when we stay we become proficient on our accounts. In turn the clients are happy and stay with the company, the MTs are happy and stay with the company and the company saves money not having to recruit, hire and train all the time.

They are out there. I wish I could post sites on here because I would love to share where I looked.

I really needed to hear there are still good people out there. Seems like the last several years I have tried more than I should and they all had something majorly wrong in how they pay, and how they dole out the work, of course how they treat the people. I will try to keep my chin up knowing that there are good places still out there. I will keep trying... and keep hoping.

I found my company that I spoke of earlier through a website/organization ad on this very site. They have a list of companies and I applied to them all. There is also the BayScribe American Transcription Network.

of my company because my boss has asked me not to. I work for a wonderful mid-sized Atlantic coast company. They pay me a very good cpl. They have asked us not to post online, as they do not want to have to deal with newbie applications. They prefer to recruit their own MTs. It is a relatively small (under 600) MTs, and they do not have the HR power to deal with newbie apps. I sympathize, but that is the way it is.

Are those of you asking for the name of the website so inept as not to be able to use your brain and go Google some phrases? I mean seriously! This is why I won't post my company name here because I don't want them to have to deal with people too lazy to make any effort on their own behalf, who'd rather someone spoon feed them. It's crazy. You guys wonder why you're losing your jobs and want to bad-mouth an MTSO for over-staffing. I think some of the replies right here make it pretty clear why that happens.

The last 2 companies I worked for were AWESOME.... until a certain Big Shot Mega Corporation bought them out and now it sucks again! I'm looking for another smaller company where management actually cares about their employees... going to watch this post to see if anyone offers suggestions.

I am so serious. Everyone needs to quit transcribing for a while. We need to get this industry back to where we could actually make a decent living. I'm juggling 2 MTSOs as an IC. I cannot sustain this for very long, the plan always was to stick with the better, more stable one and phase out the other one. At the first company (I'll just call it FC), the pickings were slim. They said that once I clear QA, I'll get a back up account and running out of work will not be an issue. Since the last thread is down the page I thought I would add this. I worked on very difficult accounts for the last 5 years and never had a problem with audits (failed 1 or 2 in 5 years). Then at the beginning of this month I was switched to a new BOB, was audited after 8 days on the account (98.1%) and immediately put on 100% QA which means I would be working for less than minimum wage.
