100% constantly? I usually get released after a day or two, but am going on two weeks. This is getting ridiculous only doing 5 reports a day. Come on people. I cannot pay the bills on $40 a week!!

My friend works for a company that allows unlimited reports - while U R on QA

The problem is they nitpick her to death and she has been on full QA since last September. I told her if she can't make them happy to look elsewhere. It is ridiculous but they keep her on. I think they either like the power to do this and it gives them ego trips to correct her over a comma, or they just don't have anything else to do.

If they take you off QA typically that includes a raise of sorts for an MT. QA pay and off QA pay, so if they nitpick and keep you on full QA, you stay at that lower rate. Many companies pull this scam. Be sure to let everyone know who is doing this so they can steer clear.

I'm not sure how they gain money this way, but I'm sure they must. I would demand to be taken off 100% or quit.

you're allowed to do in a day. Contact the Dept of Labor and they'll set the situation straight.

Your work as an employee paid on production cannot be legally limited because of their QA requirements. Their QA people will have to slog through however much work you can produce.

They will not pay it unless you tell them they are required by law to pay you minimum wage. They tried that on me too! I still want to contact the Dept of Labor and turn them in because I don't think I got the full back pay for minimum wage. I think you can claim 2-3 prior years. KS knows it is the law. Don't let them get away with not paying you. They cannot fire you otherwise you have grounds for a lawsuit against them, and they cannot retaliate against you either.

(that should be stated in your offer letter) and only get a couple of hours work a day due to this QA policy, you should file for partial unemployment. Once the MTSO hears from Unemployment, I'm sure they'll furnish you full-time hours pretty quick. First, though, ask them for full-time work and see what they say, then save their email reply. If they refuse to give you full-time hours then file. Also make sure to let them know what your state's min. wage is. You should be getting that too, unless you are already doing enough work to equal min. wage.

I am so serious. Everyone needs to quit transcribing for a while. We need to get this industry back to where we could actually make a decent living. I am making less money now than I did 15 years ago. It is absolutely ridiculous. I'm juggling 2 MTSOs as an IC. I cannot sustain this for very long, the plan always was to stick with the better, more stable one and phase out the other one. At the first company (I'll just call it FC), the pickings were slim. They said that once I clear QA, I'll get a back up account and running out of work will not be an issue. Then at the beginning of this month I was switched to a new BOB, was audited after 8 days on the account (98.1%) and immediately put on 100% QA which means I would be working for less than minimum wage.
