Just curious to know if anyone else has ever had points deducted for a cc (taken from the roster) that was incorrect. I just pull in the name when it is dictated, I don't check out their specialty, etc to make sure it is correct. Would you?

That new bonus system must be in place. Seriously, every single report I pend is coming back with "errors." Two months ago I got maybe 3 a week, now I get 10 a day.

Wonder when Nuance will figure out that QC is blowing smoke up everyone's behind to get that "find the error" bonus.

Absolutely, the wrong Dr. Jones, say Dr. Sam Jones as opposed to Dr. John Jones is a HIPPA violation.

It wasn't the doctor's name, that was correct, it was his specialty. For example, the roster apparently said Orthopedic and they corrected to Pediatric Orthopedic . . .

I can promise you that if I knew the physician's name was correct (both first and last), I'd definitely not even have worried about what specialty was listed in the roster. Most of the physician rosters on my accounts are notorious for having the incorrect specialty. Some of the rosters even have errors in the physician's title (D.O., M.D., etc.) or they don't have a title in there at all. In my opinion, it should NOT be our job to have to verify their specialty. The stupid physician roster is supposed to be helpful to us, not another hindrance in the already long list of things we have hindering our production.

Your error, in my opinion, was not a critical error if the physician's name was correct. There are some physicians who are of multiple specialities. On one of my accounts, we have one who does both internal medicine and infectious disease, but she only has ONE of those specialities listed next to her in the physician roster.

BTW, this is no longer new. If you haven't had HIPAA/JCAHO, etc. requirements training, you need to request it. Before it bites you.

I was filling in on while it was backed up. The sloppy client had very few specialties entered on the name roster, just blanks by the names; and most specialists who did have entries were entered as "Internal Medicine." (Large, name medical center, too.)

It was actually the dictator's name I messed up on, and you know how awful many of those are. It sounded most like something absolutely unintelligible Johns. So I tried that and found a Johnson with a blank for specialty and a Johns listed as surgeon. Listened again a couple of time and definitely Johns, not Johnson. Bingo! I chose that one.

I was wrong. They both were surgeons and the dictator had just not bothered to slur out the the end of his last name. My fault, and two years later it's still on on record. A major privacy violation after all.

Did I mention that the dictator ENTERED someone else's name in the first place, not his own, and I caught that even though I had to replay several times to decide to try Johns?

As I should--even though Nuance in its wisdom has the dictator's name covered up by another window when 95% dictate them and we've of course checking everything else at that point too. In all this time, they've never had a programmer slide it up a centimeter so we could read the author's name in the beginning.

In any case, competent and conscientious as all heck or not, it was officially my fault, and only mine. Should have sent it on for checking. Of course, by that standard I should be sending probably 30% on for checking.

massive critical error. The doc's name was correct. I just was unaware I had to check every on his specialty too. Shouldn't the person who puts it in the roster take some responsibility for getting it correct. All those 0.25's add up.

I have been noticing that the experience level required to even get looked at for an MT job has went up. The 2 year experience mark has now went to 3 in most postings, and alot more postings are stating they want a minimum of 5 years. I am trying to figure why I never get a call-back on job applications anymore. I was working 40 hours per week as an oncology transcriber until the company I worked for was outsourced by Nuance. I have been an IC for past 13 years with all local physician office accounts. As of July this year, I now have only one left due to the use of the EMR. While those of you are saying that EMR will not phase out transcriptionist..well that may be so, but in my experience it has already phased me out.
