I have been noticing that the experience level required to even get looked at for an MT job has went up. The 2 year experience mark has now went to 3 in most postings, and alot more postings are stating they want a minimum of 5 years. It is an up hill battle in an already hard market but with these kind of requirements I supose the seasoned MT's can rest a little easier and the newbies I guess can look for another line of work. I have already switched my gears and will finish my MA degree about October. Hopefully that career doesn't flop, but I don't think it will. It also seems that the requirements are more concrete in job postings for MA's. Instead of just X years of experience they state X amount of blood draws, or experience in coding. Things that are actually in the job postings I see are the things that I am definitely going to receive in my clinicals and externship so good luck to me and good luck to the experienced MT's. I have just really gotten a bad tast with the MT world and it is disheartening, but like Kenney Rogers said.. "You got to know when to hold em.. " and you know the rest. LOL
