100% accuracy.....BUT - Dismayed

I just cannot wrap my head around why I continually get 100% accuracy and still get the shaft. This last week?.....I'm over QA by 0.23%, yet I repeatedly get 100% accuracy time and time again. I so need to change jobs, but I just cannot figure out which way to go…not to mention since taking pay cut after pay cut for the last 10 years, I cannot afford to go back to school, and I wouldn't know what to go for anyway…when I got into this field, I thought it was a sure thing, I mean people always go to the doctor, right? DragonSpeak and overseas are killing me.

I'm in the same boat as you, 100% accuracy consistently, very low QA%, but line count suffering due to being paranoid about keeping the other 2 factors so stellar. Not very rewarding at all, downright insulting after 25 years of MT. On another note, heard yesterday we are supposed to feel sorry for people in the gas industry losing their jobs due to our lower gas prices! Having a hard time with that one when no one at all seems to care about my dwindling finances.

I hear you all too well. I honestly cannot afford to live off of what I make at N. Thank goodness I have side jobs, although those are not steady by any means. I cringe every time I check F. The never knowing if I am going to "make the compensation scale" is a pattern of extreme stress every week when it's time to approve the time card. Just at a loss as to what to do. Basically, I work for my health insurance and that is it.

I'm in the same boat, basically working just to keep our health insurance going. It's such a pleasure to see most of your hard-earned paycheck disappear into the abyss of family insurance payments, and even after that, you might as well save the rest of the paycheck for any actual medical bills, because you are never going to reach the $7500 deductible anyway. I'm seriously ready for socialized medicine by now.

I have found that medical secretarial work is a good place to go from MT. Maybe find a computer class to get familiar with MS Office, Excel especially. Or just get MS Office and do the tutorials. Contact temp agencies if you have them. I am hoping to go that route soon. Maybe work temp jobs during the day and work MT at night at first until you get some office experience and work into a full time job. Plus office work is normally daytime hours, no weekends and no holidays!

For the last 2 weeks I have had QA scores of 100% and 99.5%, but I have been paid 7.0 (then cut to 3.5 for VR) for those 2 weeks because of a high QC%. The reasons for this are many including poor recordings, I was given a new account with NO training whatsoever and NO one to contact with questions except the TSM (what am I supposed to do on her days off?), ESL dictators who CANNOT pronounce a number to save their lives.....I have been below 10% before I was given this new account--but like I said, there is no one for me to ask questions to...why can't I be given a few contacts? MLS who have been on this account for years who can easily and quickly answer my questions? The account specs do not tell everything.

I have to jump between 3 servers just to find maybe 1 or 2 jobs here and there. I thought this would end with the addition of yet another account. I now have 6. Six accounts and often OOW.

It is painful, literally my chest hurts.

It is anxiety-creating--I fear opening my email.

Wowâ�¦you sound like me. Everything you have said is the way I feel. I, too, have had new accounts, just recently, the timing perfect for my overage on my QA score. I used to "volunteer" to take on new accounts or help out, but I don't any longer. It cost me too much to do so, and it makes me feel bad to boot that I won't help someone out (another account) because I'm afraid of how it will impact on my numbers. Just a sad, sad state of affairs all the way around. I know all too well of the anxiety and fear of opening "F" or an e-mail.

I used to volunteer when accounts needed help and I won't do that anymore either.

I mentioned that my QC% was going to be high to my TSM because of the new account and the response was totally uncaring....honestly, she doesn't care.

I had no warning of a new account either, no time to review the account specs...just opened an email in the morning that said start on this account.

How am I supposed to learn a new account with no training and keep up with production lines per hour, QC% and QA% without being financially punished??

How is this fair?

My TSM is not nice either. I sent her an email with some questions and she told me through email that she answered those on Spark and I should be using Spark appropriately. It was as if she did not want me to be able to return to the emails to look for answers....I feel like it was a trap. I had Spark up, so yes, I was using is appropriately.

I have been an MT for 17 long years. I used to have my own local accounts. The doctors I worked for always praised me.

I used to feel very proud of my work. Now, I feel like a failure.

Sounds like that hideous TSM - AT. Rude, hideous woman. You should turn her in - to HR for being unprofessional and harrassing. nm

I am ready to let it all out--if I get another email that lists my metrics (and only mine so I cannot compare to anyone else anymore) stating that I should contact her if this is the second week in a row I have not met one or more of the metrics, I am going to seriously going to let her have it.

I am not going to meet 2 of their ridiculous metrics for the second week...% to QA and utilization ratio---I know I have spent a lot of time trying to learn this account alone as I go...and have had to send a lot to QA because again, the account specs do not tell you everything!

If the TSM wants to look up my previous week's metrics to compare and see that I did not meet 2 of them for 2 weeks, she can contact me! I still had a QA score of 100% and 99.5%.

Very shortly our accuracy requirement will be 99.6%. Since this company cares nothing about accuracy, my conclusion is two-fold: 1) As they always have, they are going to use this as a marketing tool. 2) Anyone who falls below 99.6% will have their pay docked thus reducing the company's labor costs even further and will probably result in administrative bonuses. I started at Nuance about a month ago. I am a new MT, graduated from CareerStep with Honors at 94%. I've been transcribing for 2.5 weeks now. I have quite a bit of anxiety because my QC scores are not improving, sometimes even getting worse. I seem to have troubles with numbers in particular. I downloaded FlashCount and love the ease of use. However, it gives a count which is slightly higher than when I manually do it in Word by dividing characters with spaces by 65. Is there a way to adjust the settings in FlashCount so it will give me the same count. I wonder if it is counting things like bold, etc. Or, is there another counting program that will count batches of files and do it accurately? It need not be freeware. I will pay for it. Years ...

I had a conversation with my personal physician today. He was using a laptop throughout the course of my exam. I questioned him as to whether this was EMR. He stated that it was. A friend of mine works at Nuance (formerly worked at Transcend, but of course Nuance is gobbling up every MTSO) and said they require 99% accuracy. And rather than an average, they run the accuracy on every single report so that even though, for example, 5 reports may be 100% accurate, if one is 98%, you're screwed. On the account I work I'd say only about one dictator in 20 can achieve 99% accuracy with VR without editing. This doesn't surprise me in the least. We could have told the developers this 20 years ago, but money talks. For the doctors forced to use VR, will the errors be acceptable to them? To the big wigs at the hospitals? ...
