Accuracy rate of 99%. Does anyone know... - Dinosaur

if the 99% accuracy rate also applies to the ILP? After all, CBay and Medquist have become one company called Medquist (something, it has changed too many times for me to remember), but I would think if it is company policy it should apply to all. Most of us have an average of 99% or above accuracy rate, but I still have a problem with making it the standard rating. Especially given the consistent inaccuracy or ASR and the increase of lines per hour for many MTs. If this standard is enforced only on U.S. MTs and not our ILP counterparts, could that be considered discrimination, and perhaps leave U.S. MTs open to legal action on a state or federal level? I really don't know much about corporate law, or law in general, does anyone have any insight on this?

the legal and ethical environment of business, which was kind of an introductory class. One of the things we did go over was if a company does buiness in a country other than their own, they are bound by the laws in their main country of business for instance in the US. They are also bound by some laws in the other countries where they do business. I think this is probably one reason why so many of the transcription companies choose India to outsource to rather than the countries like the UK or France or another more developed country because the labor laws are much lower and wages are much lower as well as benefits and requirements. For instance in our textbook there was a section about riots in France because of protests on proposed changes to a labor law that was in place that prevented workers from being fired or laid off. Many of our states in the US are "at will" states which means that employers can hire and fire with or without cause and with or without notice as long as they are not violating a Federal labor law such as the ADA or FMLA, or discriminating against a certain group of workers.

I've made lots of 100% accuracy scores, but I just saw that I made a 3.0 Critical error on a VR dictation at Nuance. It was where the doctor said a medication amt that sounded very much like another amount. I have been extremely careful with the medication amounts and the laboratory values, but made this mistake!! Very shortly our accuracy requirement will be 99.6%. Since this company cares nothing about accuracy, my conclusion is two-fold: 1) As they always have, they are going to use this as a marketing tool. 2) Anyone who falls below 99.6% will have their pay docked thus reducing the company's labor costs even further and will probably result in administrative bonuses. I started at Nuance about a month ago. I am a new MT, graduated from CareerStep with Honors at 94%. I've been transcribing for 2.5 weeks now. I have quite a bit of anxiety because my QC scores are not improving, sometimes even getting worse. I seem to have troubles with numbers in particular. I downloaded FlashCount and love the ease of use. However, it gives a count which is slightly higher than when I manually do it in Word by dividing characters with spaces by 65. Is there a way to adjust the settings in FlashCount so it will give me the same count. I wonder if it is counting things like bold, etc. Or, is there another counting program that will count batches of files and do it accurately? It need not be freeware. I will pay for it. Years ...

A friend of mine works at Nuance (formerly worked at Transcend, but of course Nuance is gobbling up every MTSO) and said they require 99% accuracy. And rather than an average, they run the accuracy on every single report so that even though, for example, 5 reports may be 100% accurate, if one is 98%, you're screwed. I've been thinking about line count. To figure if Nuance line counts are correct, just go to the eScription's old reports and do a search for 1 day of your own reports. Then, just copy and pasted them in to word. Then do a line count. Wouldn't that work? ...
