What's wrong with this picture? - Working my fingers off

I just can't understand it. For the past 2 weeks my line counts have been slowly dropping below the 1200 daily quota. Feeling the need to make up some lines, I crammed the work yesterday, going as fast as I can, still maintaining quality, proof reading each document, etc. I was excited to see how much I did. A measly 1400 lines. What the? It was about 1/3 straight typing, 2/3 ASR. Even when on 100% straight typing I used to do 200+ lines per day. I had excellent documents, too, work all day long, and even some big standards that brought in a lot of extra lines that I didn't type. It was the usual cesspool work but I had never done those clients before, mostly op reports, big standards, etc. I really felt on a roll. Are they now tweaking our straight typing line count?

They've got to be. Before I quit, for the last several months my pay kept going down and down with every paycheck. I don't know how they sleep at night.

I can't edit as many as I used to could type. I work harder than I ever have. Don't even leave this chair. Won't even answer the phone. Don't eat lunch. Still my line count is pitiful and my pay is half.

For months I've been applying to recruiters of medical jobs in insurance and pharmaceuticals (seems they're the only ones making good money these days in medicine). It's hard work and at times felt like another full-time job just researching, applying on line, etc. Lo and behold!! A recruiter from Manpower contacted me (don't know where she found my resume - but it's out there) for a position that pays $32.50 an hour and full time!! in a pharmaceutical research company in a town "nearby" (one hour drive one way). She said she read my resume and was impressed with all the up-to-date knowledge I had in all those medical fields, knowing the differences in how different doctors speak, being so detail-oriented in grammar, being very professional and well spoken as well as up-to-date with global affairs. Boy, I sure have learned a lot on MTStars. I have a feeling we need to reinvent ourselves, try to stay positive to contribute to our confidence when looking for another career - Never sell yourself short or others won't believe in you either. Just think about what we already know that can place us in a great job where we are actually appreciated!! I'll let you know if I get that job.

I'm an MME with MQ since they bought Spheris. Saw my pay take a nosedive. At least worked on a US only acct. Suddenly it got WAY out of TAT consistently. MQ found only way folks would work OT was a guaranteed hourly rate + their production (but 1 had to work at least 8 hrs OT each wk to get that) Guess what? Now the acct is shared with "global" - surprise, surprise. Lately, I've really been trying to push up my numbers & they have gone UP - yet my paycheck somehow took another nosedive.There's no real way of checking they're paying you correctly for sure. Should be illegal. I truly believe they do whatever they can to simply run off US employees, then say 'India HAS to do the work, we can't get enough US workers!" That's cuz nobody in the US can live on what they pay! Ck youtube for "CBay" and see the shows, family days, parties, etc of the employees. I swear they keep it cbay/medquist just so they can say it's 2 different companies so it's not discriminating against US folks. But we all do the same accts, etc. I tell people I work in a sweatshop.

I just got offered a new job with a local transcription company. I'll be making more money, no set hours, get the work done when I want to get it done as long as it is done by the next day. The interviewer actually looked at me confused saying "if you are getting paid by productivity, why do you have set hours to work?" I am currently per-diem with a company that requires per-diems to work 2 holidays a year and we have to phone in to beg for work (0.7 cpl) BUT we are not included in any bonuses or the holiday gift card because we are only per-diems. I've recently been contacted to test with a company and was told what they pay during their training period but not once you are released to send work directly to the client. Upon asking (for a low/high range) I was told I have to test first. I've been this route before only to have wasted my time being offered something like 6 or 7 cpl for an IC position. A few days ago I got back a warning message from my company stating that the doc had keyed in the wrong medical record number, but did say that patient's correct name. It's a major error, so my first and last warning. I feel so terrible and am thinking of quitting. By forcing us to claim shifts from the swap board when we run out, aren't they getting around the "engaged to wait" rule, and thereby not having to pay us to work around the clock?
