What is wrong with people? - sm

I have admittedly not been on this board until recently, so I don't know if there were ever really better times. I just got acquired by Nuance and came on to see if it really is just as bad for everyone as it was for me, to help me decide if I should quit and go somewhere else, and I'm just shocked by what I see. SO many nasty people jumping on other people for no reason and doing anything they can to start an argument and keep it going as long as possible. If you need drama that much, go back out in public to work, where there's plenty of it flying around every day. This is beyond ridiculous. So many angry people with terrible attitudes. Yes, this industry is going downhill fast and most of us have been thrown into pretty bad situations as of late, but that is no reason to go around life yelling at and belittling everyone who crosses your path. We should all be rallying together to help each other, not trying to cause even more problems in people's lives while they're down. A good portion of this board's visitors need to grow up. To those of you who are adults and act as such, thank you for behaving how we all should be.

I'm sure these people, even though they are probably not the nicest people you'd ever want to meet, would never dream of saying some of the things they say here, in a face to face situation.

Then maybe a site where we're required to register and display real names - would help.

Maybe even required to post a picture or something, but definitely require real names. Just requiring an e-mail address to be registered and still allowing anonymous posting is clearly not working all that well. Not saying that MT Stars should do that, as it's their site and it may work just fine for them. Does anyone know if any other MT sites do that? If someone has or was to start a board like that, I'd gladly subscribe to and use that one and that one only. I've got plenty of knowledge to trade (both to share and ask for) that I would gladly do if I didn't want to have someone jump on and say something rude and way off point, just for the sake of getting their drama fix, that scares away any real meaningful dialogue.

But that would take away all the fun, not to mention - the honesty. nm

I helped run one of the MT boards like that, and they just don't keep going, like someone else said. But it was still totally anonymous, you just had to use the same moniker each time. Though we did have at least one member who had several log-ins so she could be a sockpuppet and agree with herself, oy.

Is that people love to whine on this board about any company and if someone is happy with a company and states that then the unhappy folks give them negative responses. It's simple - if you're unhappy with an employer leave and find what you think is better.

I was going to start a post saying I am happy with my job and bring on the nasties because I aint scared of you. I didn't necessarily mean just referring to talking about companies. Yes, that is the reason I first sought out this board, but I just mean in general regarding any post. I do understand wanting to be anonymous when talking about your current employment, because we don't want to get in trouble if we complain, but the negativity and rudeness extends to almost everything posted on here about any topic.

Example: Recently I saw someone post asking about lite versus light because the doctor had spelled it "lite." This person got absolutely blasted about how stupid she was for even thinking it would be lite, and the poster removed the posting. Granted she didn't give the context, but COME ON. The doctor SPELLED it that way, which is probably the only reason this person started even thinking about the word lite, and if you do searches, the word lite is used for some things, especially product names like Miller Lite. They could have asked for context to see if this could have applied instead of calling the person a moron.

Pure nastiness abounds.

I just got offered a new job with a local transcription company. I'll be making more money, no set hours, get the work done when I want to get it done as long as it is done by the next day. The interviewer actually looked at me confused saying "if you are getting paid by productivity, why do you have set hours to work?" I am currently per-diem with a company that requires per-diems to work 2 holidays a year and we have to phone in to beg for work (0.7 cpl) BUT we are not included in any bonuses or the holiday gift card because we are only per-diems. I just can't understand it. For the past 2 weeks my line counts have been slowly dropping below the 1200 daily quota. Feeling the need to make up some lines, I crammed the work yesterday, going as fast as I can, still maintaining quality, proof reading each document, etc. I was excited to see how much I did. Upon asking (for a low/high range) I was told I have to test first. I've been this route before only to have wasted my time being offered something like 6 or 7 cpl for an IC position. A few days ago I got back a warning message from my company stating that the doc had keyed in the wrong medical record number, but did say that patient's correct name.
