Does M*Modal pay for rest breaks?

Pay for them? - Hardly!

Being as we are paid on production, any rest breaks come out of our own pocket. Although that doesn't stop the higher-ups from analyzing our idle time and jumping on us if they feel it's excessive.

google your state's labor board. My state pays for a 10 minute break for every 8 hrs worked. I don't clock out when I take the breaks and they add up to about 28-30 extra bucks a pay period. MM is very good about paying, and you will see it on your paychecks as break time if you are eligible without specifically needing to ask for it.

I forgot to clarify that this is a question for California employees. I know it is a legal requirement of a 10-minute break every 4 hours, but I was curious if they actually paid it.

Supposedly the same thing is true in Pennsylvania, but I've never seen any paid breaks.

California's laws tend to favor the employee more, so maybe you're in luck!

I meant it's a 10 minute break for every 4 hours worked. So it's two 10 min breaks in an 8 hour day paid. No clocking out. Check your state's labor board for specific details. The laws are state specific, unless your state has no laws regarding breaks, then Federal guidelines apply.

labor board guidelines and do not see it on your paycheck under break pay, most definitely contact HR asap. I have been getting it for several years.

According to M*Modal, if you want to take any kind of break, that includes using the bathroom, getting a cup of coffee, etc., basically any time you step away from the computer, you are to punch out. So, NO, they don't pay for any kind of "break." If they had it their way, you would not be able to step away from the computer or remove your fingers from the keyboard. Now, those "supervisors," it's a totally different story for them.... That's another story though...

When you guys type how often do you take breaks?  Do you find that if you take frequent breaks - say every hour or hour and a half for about 5 minutes that you are more productive?  Or do you sit and type for more than 2 hours straight without stopping?  Just wondering how often others take breaks.  This was also one of the "tips" given by the top producers of the company according to MQ.  They claimed these folks took frequent breaks but went hard at it for an hour or s ...

I lost the email, but supposedly I get a 10-minute break after 4 hours. Do I clock out of DQS but stay clocked on at ScheduleSource or do I stay logged onto both and walk away from the computer for 10 minutes? Does it show up on the time card or only on the pay stub. ok here's the dirt from payroll. If you are paid a lump sum such as PTO, the IRS  considers it "supplemental" and taxes it at 25%! So, if you're considering leaving, best to take all the PTO you have before. Wish I would have known that before. As far as paid breaks, I didn't realize it was "state" dependent...so thanks for that information. I have recently stopped punching in and out for bathroom breaks, coffee, stretching, etc., because in the work place no one has to punch out to use the bathroom, etc. I feel this is very unfair to expect us to punch in and out to use the bathroom. Anyone else? ...

Has anyone every received an employee handbook?  I found this quite interesting, especially the part about state compliance with paid breaks.  I am sure the labor commissioner is going to love that sentence stating taking breaks may affect your MUP/benefit eligibility/weekly hour requirements.  How are they going to explain how this is a paid break? We are required to work a full-time schedule that includes either Saturday or Sunday, every weekend, forever. The only time we can take a full weekend is if we take a PTO day.
