MedScribe no different from the rest - anon

Posted: May 15, 2012

I thought I had a great job transcribing for a specialty clinic in Chicago, but lost it to speech wreck.  MedScribe lied and told us it was a computer upgrade for Chicago, but now I'm left here with no work because it all went to speech wreck.  I would have changed over to another account but I was sucked in and believed about the upgrade.  Now I have no work.  Anybody else?, because I have an attorney and he would like to hear from all of us.  This industry is the pits.

If a company loses work to SR, they may have been lied to as well. They don't HAVE to give you - ex-MTSO

Lay-offs happen, not just in transcription. It's everywhere now. The economy is in the toilet, not getting better. My husband is in construction and has been laid off for over 3 years. There are still over 1000 above him on the list at the union, so it does not look promising in the near future.

VR changes - in MT

The company I work for (not Med-scribe) sent us all an email saying that the account we were on was going on VR and said that work would slow down almost immediately. Thay gave us no notice. One day you are working and the next it goes away. I guess we all have to prepare for that. I just went and applied at a different company and I am now doing VR on a pretty nice platform.

I too work with Medscribe and have Chicago as my primary. Last week was very slow and this week so far too. Do you have proof they went to speech rec?

the last e-mail I got had subject line "Chicago SR Upgrade." It was the week before the work went away. SR is speech recognition.

MedScribe SR - Disappointed

[ In Reply To ..]
I have been doing SR for Chicago for several months now, and was told that I would NEVER run out of work doing SR, only to be told yesterday that they no longer needed me because there was not enough SR in Chicago for me to do. So, if it's going to SR I don't know what the deal is.

SR - at that account

[ In Reply To ..]
The account did not go away and the SR did not go away, the hospital started using an Epic system and that will take a certain percentage of the work and put it right into the EMR.
MedScribe - Disappointed

That may be true; however, I see MedScribe is posting job openings on this site, so obviously they have work available that they could have offered their people instead of letting them go with no notice whatsoever, just being told to log off the report you are doing and that you are no longer an employee.

That is not the same MedScribe.

MedScribe - Disappointed

I was transcribing for MedScribe when they asked me to try SR. After 30 days I was told I had to choose one or the other. I was told I would NEVER run out of work if I chose SR, but if I chose transcribing they could not guarantee that. I was told yesterday that I was no longer employed by MedScribe because there was not enough work on my account, University of Chicago, although an hour later they sent out an e-mail saying they had SR work pending on Chicago and needed help getting it done. Hmmmmm!

MedScribe - sm

I had a good long run with MedScribe and was grateful for the gig. It ended overnight, though; my services were no longer needed. I'm disappointed at being discarded so abruptly and thoughtlessly but can't say they caught me entirely by surprise...every "upgrade" made me suspicious. The ones in charge there will soon find themselves in a similar position, no doubt.

A QC Question For The Rest Of You
Dec 18, 2014

For simplicity's sake, let's say I get a postaudit and it's 90%. Is my QC for the week 90%, or is it the one 90% audit averaged with my other work? OR, if there were 2 post audits, one being 100% and one being 90%, is it 95%? This is something I never got a clear answer on. I'm not sure they know lol. ...

Escription Versus The Rest Of Us
Nov 18, 2009

There's obviously an apples and oranges difference between Escription and the rest of the VR editing softwares out there.  Those who are on Escription - bless your hearts - you are very fortunate.  But if you haven't done VR on another platform, please stop trying to tell the rest of us we are obviously doing something wrong if we can't easily double our lines with VR.  It just isn't happening for most of us.  I have worked in transcription for 30 years - ...

Do The Rest Of You Find, Being Paid Only Per Line,
Nov 06, 2009

Another poster stated they only get paid when they type (just like the rest of us).  Since going from per-hour to per line wages, I've been finding it nearly impossible to take any kind of a break whatsoever, whether it be a day off, or an hour break.  I make so little at this, that all I can think of while doing anything other than typing, is how much money am I losing.  Do you, too, start feeling guilty about unchaining yourselves from your desk for even the short ...

Working Every Sunday For The Rest Of My Career
Apr 18, 2012

We are required to work a full-time schedule that includes either Saturday or Sunday, every weekend, forever. The only time we can take a full weekend is if we take a PTO day. But the problem is that we don't get paid holidays anymore (unless we work), so we are almost forced to take many of those as PTO days.  Our sick days come out of our PTO days.  I guess what I am saying is that the thought of having hardly any full weekends "forever" is very disheartening.  The company ...

"nail Rest" After Fingertip Crush Injury
Feb 10, 2015

I'm typing a crush injury to a fingertip, with debridement and surgery, basically a tiny bit of fingertip amputation. The doctor several times mentions "nail rest" that might have to be excised. Considering Medscribe

Medscribe In Jax, FL
Jun 04, 2011

Anyone know what is going on with Medscribe?  There has been little to no work for weeks now with promises of more work coming in. I know they have lost a few accounts but even the accounts still there seem to be dictating a lot less than what they normally do so I wonder if they are headed on their way out too.  Today I heard a rumor they might be sending work to another company to handle overflow and that is why the work has dried up.  Has anyone else heard this?
