Is it bad that I don't want to tier up and just want to do my job and forget about it - nme

This job has served me well for the purpose I intended. I was able to stay home with my kids while they were growing up and supplement the household income. Now, after being with this company since 1994, I don't want to tier up or become an MME. I just want to do my job and then forget about it. I am at the point now where I really want to retire as we don't need a supplemental income any longer. I see all these new "opportunities" at MM and I just don't care to jump through the hoops needed to secure a new position. I don't worry about audits or making line counts, I just want to put in my time and enjoy my life. Anyone else feel the same way

I was in the same boat, but I left MM, then Medquist for a less stressful job and not such a demeaning company to work for. I would not take the bait at all about tiering up or becoming a MM. 3 cpl for editing, no way. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. They lie and if it doesn't work out, you are the one who will get the shaft, either by losing your job and not making any money and probably being dumped on in the process.

I too am here to supplement our income, stay at home with kids. I thought about becoming an MME, but would have to work more hours, less money (from what I am reading). I just want to put in my hours (all if there were work). Nothing wrong with that!

I see no monetary benefit to the MT in becomming an MME. However, when you tier up to level 3, you do seem to run out of work less because of those op notes, which by the way, I swore I would never do, but they have turned out to be just as easy or hard as anything else -- depends on the volume for me.

I don't think it is bad that you don't want to tier up. I don't want to either. I've been in the business for over 25 years and the reports I send to QA are usually the very hard to understand dictators; I don't want to deal 8 hours 5 days a week dealing with hard dictators for less money than I'm making right now. I try not to worry about audits either; I just try to do the best job I can with the reports and realize I'm not going to ever make a lot of money in this industry ever again. I think you are wise for the decision you have made.

I am training someone and I am now reminded how far I have come, how much I have learned, and the things I take for granted and assume others know. Basic things, just proper English, not even taking into consideration the medical terminology. Knowing whether a sentence makes sense or not. We really should be paid better. But it is nice to feel smart sometimes....and you know anyone who can do this job really does have to be pretty darn intelligent. Fello ...

I was just informed that I HAD to tier up. Has anybody else been told that one? I don't want to tier up. I don't get much NJA and I like the accounts I work on. I was told that I MIGHT get a raise if I did, but there was no guarantee. Why would I want to tier up without getting a raise doing the next tier's work? I just don't get it and I never will. ...

Do you type ALL work types, including tier 1 and tier 2, correct? My CCM implied that tier 3 does ONLY operative reports?? I'm tier 2 and I think I would like to try OP reports, as I've been tier 2 for quite a while. Don't want to NOT do consults and H&Ps though. This really sucks because those reports have the highest line counts, while Tier 3 does all the testing reports such as cardiology, eeg, cath reports, and surgeries. While straight typing pay may be higher for Tier 3, everyone makes the same for VR. My vent for the day. Sorry if I offended anyone. ...

What might be happening is MM is keeping high producing Tier 3 employees and India will get all the easier work. Tier 3's in America will do the hardest dictations and worst dictators. The MME's in America will then be correcting more work because India will be doing everything else. Just trying to figure out what is going on.
