Do you always make your minimum requirement - MH

Posted: Mar 16, 2010

on your lines?  I have the worst time staying focused and get worried at the end of every pay period if I haven't met my minimum line requirement.  I get paid more on minimum wage anyway.

Do you always make your line minimum requirement?

I have ADD, so I have to struggle to keep my focus. Sometimes I fall below, but not by much. Sometimes I'm over, and I have made the (now extinct) monthly bonus several times. It just depends on how hard I try to keep on task.

Its getting harder and harder, with all the "improvements" - my company keeps making to the - s/m

transcription software they use. These days it's slow as molasses. I have trouble staying focused, too. Not that the work is boring, but because I continue to make less and less money, even though I'm working longer and longer hours each day, 6 days a week. I worry nonstop about how I'll pay my bills each month. I paid part of my gasoline credit card last month, instead of the whole thing, and now the collection calls have started. Next month I've got to come up with money to pay my taxes, and make medical and dental copayments, not to mention picking up the slack on whatever our chintzy insurance company doesn't cover. Whether or not I make my line commitment depends on so many different things. How good the dictators were that day, whether or not I was having trouble staying warm. (I try not to spend too much to heat the apartment, and just pile on more sweaters.) Every month when I pay my rent, I'm scared to death that that will be the month my landlord sends a notice saying the rent is going up. I worry about whether the groceries I was able to buy with what was left from my last paycheck, after I paid rent, utilities, and car insurance, is going to last the full two weeks until my next paycheck, when I'll be able to go to the store again. Savings are gone, and now I'm wondering if I can raid my 401K to pay my income taxes this year.

So yeah, focusing is getting harder and harder. Especially once the anger I feel at having to work so much overtime to make my minimum lines, and not getting paid for them, starts to boil over. Once I start to get pissed, it's nearly impossible to concentrate on work at all. I have to set a kitchen timer on my desk to go off every hour, just to keep reminding me that time is passing.

The other thing I do is allot a certain amount of time each morning, before I start my shift, to JOB-HUNTING for something better.

I feel exactly the same way. I can't concentrate on my job because I am so angry at working for nothing, I don't want to waste all my time with the stupid research when I have to worry about making line count every day, and I really feel this is a waste of my time. If there were any job out there to go to I would quit right this minute.

It is getting harder and harder to meet requirements. They keep adding things we need to do and taking away incentives, giving less pay and saying "We are happy to announce" this improvement which keeps track of your time better and the work you do and puts enormous pressure on us to produce, produce, produce.

Because it was getting harder to make a decent check, I make it a point to focus and get all my lines. If I don't my family finances suffer. Just turn off your internet when you're working. Do what I do. Don't let anything distract you when you are working. It becomes second nature after a while and you'll see the result in your checks.

by the way, yes... I am going through what everyone else is, but my method is working for me. I maintain my line count and often exceed it. Best wishes and don't let them get you down!

Has Our Minimum Line Requirement Changed?
Nov 19, 2014

It is still 150 lines/hr for straight isn't it?  (I think I've gotten a total of 3 straight transcription jobs in the last month).  So, is it 150 lines for VR too, which is what the majority of our work is?  Or is the line requirement much higher for VR?  This is all assuming there is work of course........ ...

Help! Can't Make Minimum LPH
Oct 21, 2014

My primary account is a straight typing account. I can't consistently make the minimum line count of 150 lph in our 8 hours. I use my shorthand and as many normals as i can, but I'm making no money. How is everyone doing this? Plus for VR it's only 180 lph. Seems like actually typing the lph should be lower. Someone please tell me how to get enough lines in!! Would quit in a heartbeat if I could, but a little pay is better than no pay, though I am still looking. ...

How Many Employees Make Under Minimum Wage & Use A Time Clock?
Jun 27, 2014

I recently started working for a new MTSO and am employee-status for the first time.  We use a time clock.  My LPH is half what it should be due to the volume of horrid dictators. When that rare miracle happens and I get all good dictators for an hour my LPH double and meets requirement. My concern is:  How many are fired because they don't meet the required volume for fear of FSLA suits?  Is this still happening like it was a year ago?   What can we do when the l ...

ASR Lph Requirement
Oct 20, 2009

I'm going to start ASR shortly and am wondernig about line counts.  I'm required to do 150 lph of straight transcription.  My CCM keeps saying not to worry about lines and that I'll be able to easily do 300 lph or more with ASR.  Does this mean I now will have two different line counts to meet.  Will I be required to do 300 lph for ASR and 150 lph for straight reports?  I'm confused on this.   Thanks   ...

Can somebody explain this to me?  I know you can work up to 40 hrs weekly, but what is the required line count?  I'm wanting to go to PT so I can get another PT job somewhere else, as the NJA drives my nuts.  I'm currently required to get 100 lph at FTLB.  Is this also my requirement if I go PT?  CCM has been MIA, so I'm not getting any help there and having a hard time finding exactly what I'm looking for on Central.  Thanks ...

Medquist's Requirement
Jan 07, 2011

I started to apply for a job at Medquist, but saw right off the bat they required my Social Security number to be given.  I feel uncomfortable giving out my number before I even fill out an application or take a test.  It didn't appear to me to be a secure site, and I don't like that floating around in cyberspace.  I wrote them back and asked if I could give my SS# after I took a test, but have received no reply.   I've put in several applic ...

Cable/ DSL Only Requirement
Jul 10, 2011

It is very annoying to see so many companies with a DSL or cable only requirement to apply for a position with them.  I use a fixed wireless connection with Doc-Q-Scribe and with ChartNet with absolutely no problems at alll.  In fact, I am consistently one of the top...or THE top producer of lines every month and I am up against MTs who mostly have cable and DSL.  That cable and DSL only policy is keeping some excellent MTs from applying for positions.  Many of these compan ...

QA Score Requirement?

Accuracy Requirement
Mar 09, 2013

Very shortly our accuracy requirement will be 99.6%.  Since this company cares nothing about accuracy, my conclusion is two-fold:  1) As they always have, they are going to use this as a marketing tool.  2) Anyone who falls below 99.6% will have their pay docked thus reducing the company's labor costs even further and will probably result in administrative bonuses.  For new employees - welcome to MM.  For everyone else - get out if you can.  ...

InScribe & 99.5 Requirement
May 13, 2013

I have been offered a position with InScribe and am really on the fence regarding accepting the position or not.  I currently work for Webmedx/Nuance and positively HATE Nuance and looking to get out of there.  The presentation for InScribe says they require all their MTs to maintain a 99.5 score or better and you are only allowed 1 time a year to fall below 99.5.  This scares me to death to be honest.  I am a good transcriptionist and consistently have reports through FIESA ...

If I want to try and apply for TAA should I NOT apply for unemployment? Did I read that you CAN be on UI and apply for this? Jeesh, apparently I can never remember what I had read. Editing LPH Requirement Question, Sm
Dec 07, 2013

Can any of you share with me what your LPH requirement for editing is? Our hospital just switched to Epic and they told us 225 LPH which none of us can make unless we take a hit of speed first. Just kidding of course, we don't do that, but none of us can make that editing expectation.
