Completely Frazzled - Ropes End

Just need to vent. Having a very, very bad day. I have worked and worked to try to be a success at this job and now most days I just sit and cry while I type. I am so overwhelmed by the horrible pay and only hearing from the email that more needs to be done. More lines, less pay. How sad for a job that should be considered very important in the health care role. Thanks for listening.

I just had to come on here and tell you to hang in there. I, too, feel the same way and experience the overwhelming feeling of a great career that got tanked by corporate greed. YOU are worthy, YOU are valuable, YOU do a great job. It is THEY/THEM who have failed us. You hang in there, take a deep breath and realize that through no fault of your own, you are where you are, but through YOUR strength, dedication and courage, you continue to try every day. That is all God asks of us, so how can "MMoral" ask any more? I am so mad that they make you feel this way! You deserve better. Bless you my fellow MT, may your day get brighter and just know that some day these people WILL get JUST WHAT THEY DESERVE, sadly, we can't give it to them today but don't worry, they will get "it" and I hope we get to watch!

I want to thank you, Birdie, for your encouraging words. I have even printed out your post to re-read it and remember that I am worthy and valuable and do a great job, as I, too, often feel beaten down and defeated by this job.

Rather than hoping they "get what they deserve" - maybe we could hope

for positive changes. I know it's far-fetched, and I know it isn't likely, but to hope that they get what they "deserve," pretty much means we hope that they go under, in which case we will all be out of a job, and let's face it, most of us are trying to hang in here for one reason or another, be it until we find something better, graduate school, or even retire. I appreciate your post and everything you said, but I am a hopeful (hopeless, maybe) optimist.

It hardly seems worth the tears, screaming, upset stomach, headaches, anxiety attacks, etc for decreasing pay and threats with discharge or layoff all too frequently.

I could have written this post. I was waking up first thing in the morning or in the middle of the night with panic attacks. I have about 25 years experience and nothing suited MModal. I slowed down because I had errors, then even though I was still over the 150 an hour, I got emails about that and their critical errors, which most likely is some doctor who mumbles, but hey that is my fault too! Easier to blame it on the transcriptionist! I signed on from a very small hospital and the first thing they do is start giving me neurosurgery from someone who refuses to slow down and speak as if he has a brain! I was supposed to get dictation from the hospital I worked out, was promised that, but all I ever got was the leftovers from the other two transcriptionists working day shift and yes my manager admitted there were 2 other transcriptionists working on that account. They can take their threats, condescending remarks and poor pay and shove it. I suggest they not call me for an exit interview because they really will not like what I have to say! Luckily I got another job after being with this joke of a company for a year and I don't care if it is PT. My health is worth something!

I understand exactly how you feel. I, too, often feel beaten down and defeated by our job, this company. I am even in therapy to deal with the effects of this job on my self-esteem, self-worth, and intelligence.

Hang in there, sweetie. We will survive this, too, and if we get fired from this job, that's okay. There are a lot of programs out there for low-income, no-income, displaced workers that can help us re-train for something lots better. Take care of yourself dear.

Why wait to be fired? Why not look for something else right now that suits your financial and emotional well being?

Why do you continue to work somewhere that has caused you to have to go for therapy or makes you cry everyday??

At this time, I am going to school preparing myself for another career and still have quite a ways to go. I am working here in the meantime just to pay for food, shelter, and school, so I don't want to quit, not before getting another job.

Your empathy is just overwhelming. I can't believe someone could read how much someone is hurting and then try to make it worse with mean comments. I prayed for her, and I have faith that she will stick with her job and become more confident. I hope she succeeds with her endevors. We are all in this together. We are not all alike, and some have more confidence than others, and that is a big boost if you have confidence doing your work after being treated like we are. I certainly can understand why you sign Anon.

Never have been the hand-holding, pity party, here's a tissue kind of gal.

I was raised to do what needed to be done, not sit around and "woe is me".

The OP and others are not happy, not able to pay their bills, need therapy...and you suggest you stay where they are. What is that going to accomplish?

I just don't care anymore about this job. I have to stick with it for now until I'm done with school, but I'm not going to let it affect me as much as it has in the past. I clock in, do my work, clock out if there's no work. I stay focused on the future. Take walks. Ignore most emails. Always forward them to my personal email so I have record of things. I don't change my schedule anymore. I fill out my unemployment paperwork and file remedy tickets. I'm working at gaining my confidence back. I wondered when I had lost it. When I went back to school, I really felt scared and unsure if I could do it. It wasn't until recently that this job really was one of the reasons why I had felt like that. And you know, I did pretty good at school. I can do this!!

I know I can't just take any old job right now, but I got a plan and realize I just have to hang in there for another year and a half.

I feel some comments were too harsh, but at the same time, don't let this job overtake you. No one should be crying through their work day. Actually, I prefer crying in the car myself... ;)

Off to my TAA appointment on Monday. Hopefully this is the silver lining in all of this.

I totally understand. I used to love medical transcription and always had excellent evaluations, but not with MModal! They destroy your confidence and make you question yourself! I am currently on 2 medications and even those did not control my anxiety because of MModal. For those of you, that your come back is QUIT! Apparently you haven't looked for a job lately or maybe you don't have the same type of managers and trainers we do, but the ones I had sucked! My manager called me one day and wanted to know if I was having computer trouble. I said no, why? She said because you aren't logged on. That was because it wasn't time for me to be logged on. There was an hour difference, but hey apparently she was looking for something else to complain about!

I'm utterly confused regarding this latest merger/acquisition/whatev of MQ of M*Modal. I just accepted a position with an MTSO working on the M*Model platform. Does the fact that the Q purchased M*Modal mean that down the road I will be working for MQ? Does this mean that MQ just owns the rights to M*Model and now has the ability to charge the MTSOs obscene amounts of money to continue to use the platform? Does this affect our positions as MTs who do work on M*Model ...

Don't get me wrong, they are nice ladies, but they are just so very clueless. I just recently got a job here and I am in heaven. It is a small rural hospital (60 beds) with a staff of 6 transcriptionists in house. The dictators are fabulous. I have not seen how long our pay would be dropped the 3 cents. Am I missing something? Is it just that pay period or the next week or what? I just don't see that.
