anyone can completely proofread each report without going way down on their line count - tootsie

Posted: Mar 02, 2014

I don't know how anyone can completely proofread each report without going way down on their line count and also running up your idle minutes past 15.  Any ideas out there?

I got out of MT completely - Problem solved

I always wondered how people struggle to get 150 lines. I guess that's how. I run about 400

proof as you go - corgi

Proof as you go if you can, especially the short segments like social history, family history. I do read over all my reports and can keep a line count about 250-280 depending on dictators, sometimes higher, and have low idle time. Good luck! It does take practice, but it is possible to proof as you are editing.

This is how I doubled my line counts (sm) - Rose

I created a marker in IT that was a P highlighted in lime green so there was no way I could miss it. I used the dictators pauses in dictation to proof and inserted this marker where I left off so I could quickly go back to it on the next pause. I would also proof as I go. I did see a very slight decrease in accuracy doing this but they were just a missed comma, or he vs. a she, minor things which I hate to leave in a report but you have to make a living. It probably decreased my accuracy about a 1/2%. Not proofing at the end of the report doubled my time. I did to a quick look over at the end but only for a few seconds. It is difficult to proof as you go when it comes to editing as SR errors don't jump out at you like transcription errors do, but it is possible. I think it is the only way to make enough money to live on if you are 100$ self-supporting.

Good luck to you.

Yea I proofed as I went till I left a , and the - sm

and then started failing audits for BS mistakes similar to that. doesnt take much to fail anymore..Line count has dropped by about 50-75 an hour trying to pass the freaking audit

I think he/she is a critical error, isn't it?

Hi all, When do you proofread your transcribed report?  Do you wait until you are finished or do you proofread each section when finished?  And, do you ever get faster?  I'm afraid if I wait until I'm finished I will not remember things.  Also, do you re-listen to the dictation or not?  Thanks.  Many questions.    KB.  ...

Powerscribe Line Count Report
Mar 06, 2011

I'm about to transitioned to Powerscribe and have been set up on my home computer.  I am an MTSO so I need to know how does PS calculate daily or per report line counts.  Is this an administrative report I need to be given access to by the administrator? Because looking at a screenshot of PS, it looks like the options for doing, frankly, anything are limited to copy/paste and spellcheck.  I realize it is not a word document, but how are line counts done?     ...

VR Line Count - What Kind Of Line Production Should I Shoot For
Mar 24, 2011

I was just hired on with a company to do strictly VR. I am only going to be working part time so about 4 hours a day. I am wondering from those who do VR what kind of line production should I shoot for in 4 hours of work? What is the normal VR line count for part time? I have read that most who are working full time or 8 hours a day are doing more than 1,000, even 2,000 a day. The company I will be working for wants a minimum of 10,000 lines in a payperiod which the lady said even with part time ...

Character Count/line Count
Feb 23, 2011

Is this correct? I type 70,000 characters a day. I am paid by the 65 character line so I would divide 70,000 by 65 to get 1076, then multiple that by pay per line, say $.10 and get $107. If this is not correct then what is the formula? And what is the average number of lines per day? Thanks so much for the info. ...

Line Count...
Sep 19, 2012

I have been working for this company for about 18 month and so far so good. It was even bought out by a bigger company and everything stayed the same with no problems. They don't bother me, I do my work and everything is fine. About 6 months ago my line count started going way down and I really just chalked it up to not being able to concentrate as much because my baby started walking and basically making it impossible for me to work. For the past week my line count has about doubled. ...

Receiving Only A % Of Line Count??
Dec 04, 2009

Is it typical to only receive a percentage of your edited lines because "editing is faster and better" than straight transcription?  I am new to VR, but this seems odd to me. Ok-has Anyone Else Noticed Their Line Count
Apr 25, 2010

I was checking my line count, went back and checked it later, and it was down!  Not the first time I have seen this.  Seriously, I am feeling like we are being set up to fail in a MAJOR way!  Issues with the line count, QA getting tougher, it is all adding up to on big set up-at least, that is the way it has been feeling to me lately.  It is hard to stay focused when you feel like your work may disappear at any moment, or get in trouble with QA because of horrendous dictation ...
