To the folks who work for more than one company . . . . do you have both platforms loaded on 1 computer, or do you have 2, or more, separate computers?

I work full time at Mmodal and part time at another transcription company. I have two different platforms on my one computer and it's working out great.

Never had a problem with the platforms. I did, however, have a problem with one job and they had to go in where they look at your computer and they saw the other company's platform, no files or anything just the platform. I was told by that job that I could NOT have two jobs on one computer because it invaded privacy acts. I am not sure how the two platforms were going to communicate with each other and share secrets or whatever, but I just said "okay" and carried on as usual with both platforms on one computer. I own the computer, the MTSO doesn't provide me with one, so I figure I can work ten jobs on here if I see fit.

I work 3 jobs and I have them all loaded onto just my laptop. Works out great. Never had a problem.

I use two computers but only because my hospital job provides a computer with a VPN loaded on it that I have to use to access their system. If the VPN is not connected, I can connect to the other job just fine, there's no conflict with andy software or anything. I just like knowing that none of my own personal stuff is on that computer in case the day comes when I have to give it back right away.

I use a KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) switch to connect the two so I only have one monitor and keyboard and I use the mouse port for my footpedal. I do have two different mouse controllers, though. It's not that bad of a setup, actually.

I have an older KVM switch I used to use where I hooked my my two computers and pressed scroll lock twice to just toggle between computers. Since then (3 or 4 years ago) I changed homes, a keyboard and my computers. I hooked up that KVM to my two computers and the Scroll lock does not change a thing. Is there some other way to toggle between computers? I have no switch to turn on the KVM, just the monitor, mouse and keyboard connections.

If I change things around and unhook it for any reason it loses it's mind, so to speak, so I have to unhook it completely from all the connections, let it sit for 30 minutes or more, and then hook everthing back up again. I'ts a pain and I try not to change things around too much because of that. If that doesn't work, it's possible the switch itself could be bad.

The best option is to contact the manufacturer of the KVM Switch for details. I have used KVMSwitchTech's Cat5 KVM Switch solutions in the past and they seem to work great. They are typically designed for applications where you need to extend the servers 100ft or more from the KVM Switch.

you might have a problem if any given company uses VPN to connect and log on in that the VPN won't let you log on another at the same time. One platform I worked on would not even allow you to open the internet to look things up. I hated that.

These eScription, Nuance, EMR, etc. posts are all very sobering. I recently changed my health care to Kaiser and have observed first hand and for the first time, the use of electronic medical records; they really are of immeasurable assistance to each provider who is treating the patient. I just ran into a local job already, MOWING GRASS. The lady's lawn mowing man just finished school and is quitting the mowing. Most postings are about how horrible the industry is and how impossible it is to get a job. I haven't been getting a second resevered job for quite some time and was wondering if I was the only one. I have told my manager and she said she would fix it about 2 months ago. It really stinks because after I complete a job it throws NJA at me. If I let if search for jobs long enough it will find me one. It seems they are either extremely low CPL or full of ESLs that means you also cant make any money.
