Does it seem like there are more jobs lately or is it just we are being - PAMT

offered the same amount of money that they make in India now so that evens out the playing field. Seems that way anyhow. It seems they are either extremely low CPL or full of ESLs that means you also cant make any money. Well, I guess that is where we are now and I dont expect anything will get better as we move forward with EMRs, etc.

ME as hobby job for pin money or possibly retirees using it for supplemental income. Not a job any more to actually *support* oneself.

A lot of these seem to be the same positions for the same companies. I think pay has hit such an all-time low that experienced MTs as a majority are finally saying no and thus these companies offering 3 cpl (!) don't have enough people applying.

How could anyone possibly make a living wage at that rate? You'd have to edit 500 lph, every hour, every day, to make $15 an hour before taxes. In addition, you have to deal with QA who don't know the meaning of the term "over-editing" picking apart your work. An uninformed newbie might apply, but who could stay? These facilities fall for the VR sales pitch and set a low price, and the MTSOs bid on it, thinking they can find MTs who will work for 3 cpl. So you have MTs that can't work for that, younger MTs getting out of the business, and older MTs retiring = less US MTs.

And yes, some MTs can do 500 cpl. In fact, I did that for many years until my company closed. However, we had imported demographics, assigned accounts, excellent VR (ExEditor), paid for headers and footers, did NOT have to over-edit, no QA, and most importantly, no BOS rules or pages of specifics - we simply typed what the doctor said and used our common sense. This was, and how it should, be but offshoring MTSOs have changed all this and I know I will never have that again.

wise up and dont want to work for that especially when they get the tons of facilities like we do here and I would bet overseas gets one or two hospitals and that is about it so they can do it well.

I recently changed my health care to Kaiser and have observed first hand and for the first time, the use of electronic medical records; they really are of immeasurable assistance to each provider who is treating the patient. I just ran into a local job already, MOWING GRASS. The lady's lawn mowing man just finished school and is quitting the mowing. It really stinks because after I complete a job it throws NJA at me. If I let if search for jobs long enough it will find me one.
