TransTech typing versus VR - GinaW

Posted: Mar 18, 2014

I responded to a job opening posted here with Trans Tech.  Could anyone tell me about this company.  They invited me to take their test and if it is no better than where I work at now, I will keep on looking.  I am looking for typing versus VR also.  I didnt know whether this is the same company as TTS or if it is a different one.  Any input would be appreciated.  Thanx in advance.

TTS is a completely different company. TransTech announced just a couple of weeks ago that they are "merging" with IMedX, which is a company that heavily offshores work to their locations in India. I quit as soon as I found out. I have some friends who are still there and they have told me that they are already running out of work quite a bit and they are also looking to get out. IMedX has already taken over TransTech's payroll, insurance benefits, PTO, and 401k. Just do some reading on this board about IMedX and about other companies who have been through these mergers and acquisitions. It never ends well for the MTs.

Thanx for the information..I am at Nuance now and it doesn't sound much better than them. I am looking for a company with straight typing, no VR

Not taking any unnecessary tests - GinaW

I also do not want to take these hour to two-hour tests unless I want the job.

If this is the one in Texas, they were just bought out and have cut pay already. You also run out of work a LOT. They do side work for Nuance.

TransTech current employee--Cut pay??? - ColtsFan

I am a current employee. My pay has not been cut and my work flow has not changed.

Might be a 'fav' with seniority...just say'n - Wait a while

[ In Reply To ..]
When things change...they use people too. So, maybe you are lucky, and just pray it lasts, because sooner or later they won't need you..."accha namaste" (Good-Bye).
"fav" - ColtsFan
[ In Reply To ..]
No....I am not a "fav." I work when I am scheduled and meet my requirements.

MTs at TT are going through a pretty scary time right now, so just throwing untruths out there really isn't helping any of us at all. We all know what could happen down the road, but for those of us who are hanging in here, could you have a little empathy and not just throw garbage out there that isn't true? I think I already have an ulcer from worrying about the merge.

AGREE! Nobody likes change...and on the face of it this doesn't look to be good, but until the bad starts happening, let's not exacerbate it..

TTcut pay?? - me

[ In Reply To ..]
I too am TT-now IMDEX employee, I suppose should be said, and have not received a cut in pay nor work flow problem---although it is spring break all over the world, different weeks different places and work traditionally goes down at this time of year. I have seen messages regarding that, but have not experienced it.

Pay cut - Darkhorse

[ In Reply To ..]
My pay has not been cut at all. We also get "bonus" lines quite often. Probably due to MTs leaving. Might happen in the future, but it is not happening now. Why do people just say things without any foundation based on reality?

TT pay cut - It happened to me

[ In Reply To ..]

Some of us old timers received a QA bonus of 0.0025 per line if we sent less than 10% of our reports to QA.

That ended abruptly after the buyout, so yes, there was a pay cut for some.  And it seems little or no work for most.

MQ Typing Versus ASR And Our Pay.
Oct 01, 2010

A very interesting post over in the VR forum which is proof IMO why we are going so broke doing ASR, and isn't even taking into account how horrible MQ DocQSpeech software is. Yesterday I had a 10-minute ASR report and I ended up typing at least 50% of it. Several times I thought of doing F11 on that report. Unfortunately, using F11 part way through a report while saving the text you have done so far on note pad, and then pasting it back in rather than starting all over, however, can ...

ASR Versus Straight Typing
Mar 11, 2011

Does anyone else out there get scared when you get a straight typing report?   Every time I get a straight typed report, the dictator sucks, sound quality sucks, or both.  I am totally scared every time a blank screen pops up.  Don't mean to sound unappreciative of the increased income, but sometimes I feel like I am being pulled through a needle backwards! ...

Re Straight Typing Versus VR.
Mar 08, 2012

I have a pretty good and accurate typing speed, which has made me pretty good money in the past.  Then along comes VR.  I have had somewhat success with it, if the right dictation is placed on it.  The problem comes in when a company tries to put anything and everything on VR that does not belong there.  It defeats the purpose of using it in the first place. I am told that the computer calculates the accuracy of a report.  If it is 80% or more, it goes on VR.  ...

VR Rate Versus Straight Typing
Apr 16, 2014

I really wish I understood the logic behind paying 4 cpl for VR as opposed to 8 for straight typing.  Do these people think it takes us exactly half the time?  I understand being paid a little less, but it should be around 6 cpl.  We still have to listen to the dictation, which takes the same time.  What about the providers we basically have to type the whole report for?  Yet we get the 4 cpl because it's VR.  So unfair.  Did they do some type of study tha ...

Oracle Versus TransTech Please Help, Please
Oct 06, 2010

I'm sorry to bother everybody with ?s but -- I'm in a situation where I need to make a job decision today between 2 options and it is really difficult because it is hard to compare the variables when so much is unknown to me. Current situation -- I work PT employee - just got a pay cut and continually run out of work, some days getting merely 100 lines.  Pay decrease was from 9.5 to 8 with one week's warning.  I rarely bring home more than 300 a pay period.  Seriou ...

End Point Versus Endpoint And Hand Grip Versus Handgrip
Mar 13, 2012

Two words that come up often for questioning.  These are strictly used in an orthopedic setting.  Stedman's and Dorland's list end point and hand grip HOWEVER the office transcription manager,  girl is asking for me to correct this to endpoint and handgrip. She is only basing this on what an old medical transcription company she used to work for had her typing. I would rather base it on the  medical reference. The doctors are not even aware this has come up. She is ...

Typing Without QA
Apr 06, 2010

You know, I think I am typing better and faster without the fear of QA hanging over me.  I never thought they were extremely helpful anyways.  Usually they couldn't fill in the blanks and just nit-picked the report like a pecking bird.  I have never had a report sent back from a client (knock on wood) because they were unhappy with anything.  I spent far more time trying to please QA than the hospitals and doctors (and have told my supervisor that more than once).  ...

Typing Into EMR
Mar 20, 2012

For those of you who are typing directly into EMR/EHRs, how are you accessing the voice files? Is it coming directly from the EMRs or do you have to grab them separately. I've been asked to type directly into an office's EMR and am curious how this is going to work. It sounds like some are charging per audio minute and others per hour. I'm trying to keep my job relevant and go with the flow. Thanks to all who post their situations. At least we can all pull together, learn and keep ...

Missing HPs When Typing DSs?
Oct 02, 2010

Okay, I have had the suspicion that MQ programmed something when you bring up old reports when typing a discharge summary that the H&P doesn't show up.  Today, the dictator doing the DS plainly stated that she was reading right off the H&P.  I went to check in the old reports to maybe get some quick lines, but it wasn't there...as usual.  I typed what she said and realized that I had already typed this before and that I was the one that typed the original H&P ...
