I remember the good old days, when we actually made progress in our jobs ($$$, benefits, etc.).

Now, in addition to not getting paid holidays (unless you work them, of course), employers are prorating PTO pay. So...even if you get paid vacation time, you're not paid anywhere near what you make when you're working. I guess the idea is to make taking vacation so unaffordable that you don't dare take it. (?)

I netted less $200 for my 2-week vacation. That is what passes for fair treatment of our workforce these days, I guess.

That equates to $2.50 an hour if you do and about 1/3 of minimum wage in my state. How did your company compute that pittance and are they still in business after delivering that paycheck with the Brinks truck certainly???

You forgot that with the wonderful MTSO industry lately, who ever get raises or CPL increase in the last 10 years or so previously called (remember this) cost of living and merit raises? AHHH, a trip down memory lane and the good ole days in this industry.

Wow, so sorry you had a nice vacation but came home to that!

My last company computed our hourly vacation and holiday pay rate at an average of the year before. My present company bases it on an average of two weeks before. I can't figure out how your company came to that figure?!

What is that word?.... I seem to remember something like that 25 years ago or so...

Raise? I had to fight tooth and nail for any raise I ever got.... negotiating new clients: why do they call and state they get transcription and the moon for 6 cpl? When they tell me this, I tell them they better stay where they are at, as there is no way I will go this low EVER.

$200 for the 2 weeks. I know the company I work for pays a flat rate for PTO and it is not what I would normally make per hour.

Every company I have worked for did figure an average hourly rate for the past 2-3 weeks prior to vacation. Still seems a shame to find that much less on a paycheck after taking a well deserved vacation.

Yup, I hear ya with the "What's a vacation?" post. I have a small private account and play catch up while the doc takes his vacation;-) No vacation here for that doc's account but at least I am only typing part-time for a week. He seems to get a lot of his missed dictation caught up right before he leaves on his vacation always. Bless his little heart!

Total dollar amount, not $200 less than normal.

I work about half time, so they take your hourly production from the previous year (not current year) and multiple by the full-time equivalent. So, if you made $15 an hour and worked 20 hours, you'd get $7.50 an hour.

And I would guess that since it's vacation time, minimum wage laws don't apply.

So in essence, you just take time off with no - pay any more and call

Hello, I am new to using Express Scribe and it has been a great program so far! I was just wondering if there was a way to eliminate back-ground noises so you can better hear the dictator?? a way to isolate the voice? I have recently learned that I will be losing 3 of my best doctors to EMR. Since then, one of the doctors has offered to keep me on entering the clinic notes into the EMR for him. I would still be working from home as an IC, but would need some training on their EMR system. Any suggestions as to what I would charge for this? I currenlty bill by cpl. Is it only me or is anyone else losing serious money here? for the past 6 months I have NOT been able to make more than 950 dollars a month take-home. now with the new program my pay is even less. Again, around 30% of documents with blanks - about my usual reported average. 99% of those documents were due to sound issues and undocumented physician names (not allowed to spell phonetically according to CPs). I've been using the IT Pro 7 free trial and have created a custom list with it. Instructions to activate IT have you download it, although the paid version is the same as the trial. If I re-download it, don't I lose my custom list? How would I save this to import without corrupting the file?
