A community of 30,000 US Transcriptionist serving Medical Transcription Industry
I am an IC and have a prospective cliient who might have more work than I can handle on my own. I was really just looking for part-time job and this opportunity basically fell in my lap! I am not sure whether to just take the job and hire other ICs to help with my overflow or just tell them I am only looking for part-time work and risk losing eveyrthing. It seems too wacky to me to to turn down an opportunity because it might be too many hours for me alone when I can outsource some of the work. Without boring you further with the details, for the past couple of years I have not been able to work and I am now and looking forward to working again but I am not sure I manage possibly 40- 60 hours a week typing and managing. Because I have been out circulation for almost two years it has been almost impossible to find a transcription job. Two years off seems like an eternity to employers in the transcription industry.
Another reason I am so hesitant is it can get so complicated when you hire other people. I really was not looking to be a"boss" coordinating workflow and managing maybe one or two other people. However, I really could use the job and with the new technology out there it seems to be much easier to outsource overflow work. I do have some experience as a transcriptionist working alone using FTP sites and email to get dictation and send reports. However, I have not used the new digital technology to manage workflow with other people. However I do know there is no need to be picking up/delivering tapes, printed reports as I did in the past when I outsourced my overflow and this is part of what made it such a pain. I am really leaning toward just taking the job and hiring ICs to help with workload. Does anyone have any feedback? Thanks in advance!
