Considering applying there if there is enough work?!

make it through an 8 hour day. But I'm sure they'll probably hire you anyway. So go for it. Meanwhile my house will be foreclosed upon, my cars repossessed, and I'll be having dinner at the Soup Kitchen - anyone care to join me?

At least the home and car are paid for, but it's the monthly bills I can't make. I've had my phone disconnected, cable on the verge, and my savings are drained.

Utility bills are 2 months behind and haven't had a nickel in my wallet for 3 months or more.

Can't even think about getting a job close to home. Employment is 12% here. No jobs available.

Why are they hiring then? - sm

Yes indeed. I am in all of those scenarios having tried to work for TransTech. Some integrity in these companies is long overdue.

There's one account that seems to be continually out of work, but it is horrendous--almost all ESL and very difficult. My primary runs low on work fairly frequently. If they are telling you there's traditional MT work out there, I'm afraid you're probably being led down the path. Pay is pretty standard (8.5/4). No bonuses/raises that I've EVER seen. Nice QA department, nice people to actually work for with the exception that they absolutely dropped the VR on us without any warning whatsoever last year, which I guess would have been acceptable (since I know every other company is doing it) if the pay was just a little bit higher or maybe there had not lied that it was possible to make the same amount or "even more!!" than we were making before. Yes, I know, some people out there in MT land are doing that, but they aren't with this platform and this company. They just aren't.

on board and need to staff for them? It's rare that I run out of work, so I really don't understand who these posters are who constantly insist that the work is low. Could it possibly be one or two trolls who have a grudge of some sort? I wonder.

Yep, I suspect this on occasion myself. I'm in a loop email and see the managers practically begging for people to hop on and help on certain accounts because there are 200+ reports and in danger of going out of TAT. I believe we're all FTEs yet it seems a lot of the MTs at TT show up and work when/if they feel like it. I could be way off base, just the feeling I get when I read those emails that show 4-5 MTs should be on and working yet are MIA with no notification.

I'm on that ginormous Hem/Onc account and LOVE it. It's had 700-1000 reports ready and waiting all week, and I'm heading over there right now to dive in. Also, there ARE two new accounts coming on board (one HUGE one, BTW).

Perhaps some of the ones at TT without work are some of those never bothering to read their emails. I've never worked with such a great group of folks, from managers to QA, etc.

TT may not work for everyone, but I do not have a single complaint or a single negative word about ANY aspect of the company.

I think it's almost entirely dependent on account. I know of one account in particular where they are "begging" people to work, but it's not my primary and they have as yet to train me for it to be my secondary, which is not my fault. (The account itself is also awful, all ESL and each doctors with some individual weirdness that you have to abide by.) So currently I just have to wait for work from my primary, which is sporadic. So I don't think it's all about lazy transcriptionists not reading their emails, not wanting to work, etc. --sorry. Again, rather than hiring a bunch more people, if there are a lot of us out there low on work, why not just train us for the accounts that fall behind?

Nothing I like better than to have no work on a Saturday (when I am supposed to be working) and then get E-mailed throughout the day on Sunday asking for help and that the acount will fall behind and out of TAT. I'm really ticked off. Normally I have work every day. Today I have not been assigned any work and have been sitting here waiting and watching for work to come in. If they have no work for me, why don't they let me know that the work is low and nothing will be coming in? I've noticed in reading posts lately a LOT of companies are majorly low on work. I'm looking to make contact with those MTs/SRs who are having issues keeping a steady flow of work from their current company or having issues with finding and keeping positions in MTSOs due to low workloads and lack of communication from the employers/MTSOs. I am an IC and have a prospective cliient who might have more work than I can handle on my own. I was really just looking for part-time job and this opportunity basically fell in my lap! I am not sure whether to just take the job and hire other ICs to help with my overflow or just tell them I am only looking for part-time work and risk losing eveyrthing. Hi there fellow TT MTs:) Do any of you ever have trouble with QA at TT. Lately, I have been afraid to send anything in for correction, particularly 1 person, who dissects my reports down to crossing my Ts and dotting my Is. I know she is probably just doing her job well, and I know being in QA is a hard job, but this is getting depressing. I am not a newbie by any means, and I know my job well. I started a new thread because I noticed your question about TransTech waaaay down at the bottom of the page and with no responses yet, so here goes... In my personal experience, nothing has changed from the older posts. Even today, I have 4 accounts and I'm currently waiting for work to come into my queue. For some reason, the EditScript would not come up. So I got rid of satellite and had Verizon Wireless installed. So far this is working pretty good. Much better than satellite -- knock on wood.
