I am needing a good site to search for docs for particular states. I've been using NPI, but the doc I am trying to find is not coming up. He/she has an unusual name and it is being dictated by another doc who is struggling to pronounce it. The doc I am needing to do a search on right now is in Missouri. I don't know the clinic. I only know that the patient is to follow with him/her for diabetes.
I do the same, except that I use a customized version of Google called Medical Transcription Word Seeker or MT Word Seeker that searches just medical and MT-related sites.
When you do a search using this, you get refinement links at the top of the results page, clicking on which narrows down the search results further to websites on the topic clicked. For example, clicking on "Doc & Hospital Search" refinement will show results from doc & hospital finder websites exclusively.
I put in the doctor's first or last name and specialty / location in a search query such as "Bradford * MD * CA" Urology and click on the "Doc & Hospital Search" refinement link. This gives me a listing of all doctors matching that criteria. You can do this with normal Google as well.
There are other refinements on there as well such as "Medication Searcher," which will show results from just medication websites and others such as "Medical Abbrev," "Dictionaries," "Do-Not-Use Abbrev," "Nursing Home Search," among others. To search across all sites again, you'd have to click the "All Results" button.
