Not sure how to ask without naming names - sm

I have an opportunity to subcontract for a person who has accounts. She does not really have a "business" per se, e.g., no company name. She said she has hired nationally before and I was hoping to come here and ask if she paid on time, etc. But - I can't seem to find a way around it without naming names.

Could she give you references? I think it's only fair. NM - MT25

Well I seriously doubt she would give me the name of someone she did not pay or pay on time, right?

I'd wonder if those who don't pay on time might only pay some - regularly all the time and not others?

In other words, I see your point, but I'd guess that if she was not at all reluctant to give you a few names and numbers, then that would be a good sign. I think the non/late payers probably just do it across the board?

You are wise to be cautious. I agree with the other poster. In such a situation, it would seem reasonable to ask for references.

she has the following:
1. A business license.
2. A business financial statement she would share with you.
3. Is she rated by D&B? (Likely not, but perhaps; ask her. That usually separates the ladies from the girls!)

I'd start with her name. Just CTL F on the Company board and fill in field in lower left corner. If nothing, I'd search her town and see if anything comes up. Also Google search her.

You might also want to check and see if the national company allows their ICs to have subs in the contract.

Can someone explain to me why, if I get paid by the line, I spend so much time looking up doctor names, facility names, the local burger joint, etc, but I don't get paid for that? ?? Anyone notice their W2 now actually says Nuance Transcription Services and no longer Transcend DBA Nuance... Last year there were lots of comments about our W2's (all of us, not just those who came in from Transcend) saying Transcend. I even wrote HR to see what was up with that. They never told us about the change to Transcend and certainly didn't mention the change back to Nuance. Oh well. Just an observation. ...

Does anyone else ever have a problem with a doctor/nurse, etc. who sends out letters or just on regular reports who gives no complete names or addresses? We have a place to go look them up but it does sometimes take a chunk out of my time doing it. One or two minutes means a lot sometimes. I have one doctor who dictates letters to "Dr. Smith, Dr. Jones," etc. and there are only about 10 of each of those listed and sometimes you cannot tell what the specialty is to look it up.&n ...

So, this being the most friendly and up-to-date board around regarding MT practices, can I get some opinions about the HIPAA 'privacy rule' and your doctors using patient names in their notes, clinic or otherwise. I am not sure how an HIM department can say to a physician how using a patient name in a transcribed report is not going against the Privacy rule in HIPAA. When do you capitalize departments? I have been in the biz for 10 years, and my current QA staff is giving me conflicting feedback on my capitalization. One QA manager is giving me errors for not capitalizing, the other is giving me errors when I do! How annoying is that? There are a few doctors on my account that don't bother inputting the patient name into the demographics, don't spell it, don't give a date of service...they just say a name and start dictating. Does anyone have a good website where if you can only make out part of the name of a drug it will research everthing with that part.
