I left MT finally after 10 years

I just finished my last keystroke. Ever. After 42 years in the medical transcription industry, I have retired. I will never again plug earphones in my ears and listen to mush mouths and doctors who can't speak English. I started in this field using an electric typewriter and cassette recorder - even Dictaphone belts at one point. Before there were computers. Got an office job 3 days a week making $15 hour, still will do Mt prn, but won't have to stress anymore about my lines. I am glad I got to stay home with my kids over those years, but if I had to do it again, I would of stayed working. The financial stress that me and my family went through, bankruptcy, never having money to do anything fun, no vacations. I don't think it was worth it. This is a part-time 4 hour position, been at it for a month, and cannot get above 600 lines. I am editing on the Ex-Editor platform and I love it. I have changed it at least half a million times to CABG, but it never "learns." Thought that after not having enough work for a couple years now and always chasing work, I'd now have a "real job" as an employee and wouldn't have to worry about a steady paycheck and paying the bills anymore. There is much speculation about the field of transcription - how many of us actually plan to be here 5 years, 10 years, 20 years from now. I realize that the field is going to change, which will contribute to your answer. Will there be enough transcriptionists/editors to fill the need in 5 years and in 10 years? I finally told MQ goodbye! I finally got another contract job and they needed me to start pretty much immediately, so I quit without notice. In a way I feel bad for resigning without a 2-week notice, but I figure MQ would not give me a 2-week notice if they were letting me go. I finally went ahead and filed for partial U/E. I know I'm not in as bad of a situation as many I read on this board but I just can't live like this anymore.
