After 4 years, ASR finally got "cabbage" right.

I just finished my last keystroke. Ever. After 42 years in the medical transcription industry, I have retired. I will never again plug earphones in my ears and listen to mush mouths and doctors who can't speak English. I started in this field using an electric typewriter and cassette recorder - even Dictaphone belts at one point. Before there were computers. I struggled with leaving, I put so much into this and granted I got to stay home with my kids when they were small, but the worry about steady money was the price we paid. We filed for bankruptcy and almost lost our house. Thankfully, we got a loan mod which reduced our mtg down from 1700 to 1400. I finally applied on Craigslist to part-time law firm positions and got one for 3 days a week next town over making $15 an hour. Got an office job 3 days a week making $15 hour, still will do Mt prn, but won't have to stress anymore about my lines. I am glad I got to stay home with my kids over those years, but if I had to do it again, I would of stayed working. This is a part-time 4 hour position, been at it for a month, and cannot get above 600 lines. I am editing on the Ex-Editor platform and I love it. Care to share any pointers, or things I can do to be more productive. I am definitely not using the mouse but still cannot get above 600 lines in 4 hours. For the first time, for me, in a report, the doctor actually mentions cabbage, as in the vegetable. (the patient had digestive problems and said that he ate it the night before). But, get this, ASR actually puts down CABG! Something it never seems to do when it needs to be CABG. I just don't get it. ...

Thought that after not having enough work for a couple years now and always chasing work, I'd now have a "real job" as an employee and wouldn't have to worry about a steady paycheck and paying the bills anymore. The reason I thought this was because at the interview and in their professional company emails, they use all the "real job" words: Shift, scheduled hours, overtime, PTO, benefits, etc. I felt relieved to finally have a "job." There is much speculation about the field of transcription - how many of us actually plan to be here 5 years, 10 years, 20 years from now. I realize that the field is going to change, which will contribute to your answer. Will there be enough transcriptionists/editors to fill the need in 5 years and in 10 years? Will the industry be forced out of offshoring because of taxes? Will there be a need even for editors if VR gets better? These are all unanswered questions, but my question is, what ...

Lately, I've been getting legal notices mailed to my home from I believe the east coast somewhere informing me of a class action lawsuit against M*Modal and inviting me to joint if I have a claim. I finally told MQ goodbye! I finally got another contract job and they needed me to start pretty much immediately, so I quit without notice. In a way I feel bad for resigning without a 2-week notice, but I figure MQ would not give me a 2-week notice if they were letting me go. Finally out. I start a new job in-house on December 10 in a medical office. Not MT, just answering some phones and setting up appointments. And I get to wear scrubs. I guess in the morning I'll be taking off one pair of pajamas and putting on another. Don't lose hope friends.... ...

I finally went ahead and filed for partial U/E. I know I'm not in as bad of a situation as many I read on this board but I just can't live like this anymore. I was actually reduced to tears today with the bullying and threats from people of various departments. LOL, I think this should attest to whether or not the transcriptionistist is training the VR - As many seem to think they are doing

I'm sure every typist who came across cabbage knew this was a mistake, and it still took - 4 years for the VR system to figure it out
