Do these nut cases who dictate not realize it's okay to take a breath - wannie

Posted: Nov 11, 2011

before they finish a 10-minute dictation.  But, by all means, let's not say anything to them.  After all, they're doctors, residents, PAs, and they don't get up and put their pants on like everybody else.  Forget the poor people on the other end trying to make sense out of the nonsense they spew out of their mouths.  That's my vent for the day!  Now maybe I will feel better!

I'm sending you a hug Wannie; I think we are in the same place these days. sm - shortcake

Reports like that were easier for me to handle when I worked for a company I liked. Now with NJA for the past few weeks, making less money even without the inevitable paycut in the future and all that goes with integrating with buyout, I get so stressed out and just want to reach into the computer and strangle someone!!! It does help to vent. Hope your day gets better.

I have been asking whether or not they know there is a person on the other - end trying to make a living

out of their stupid nonsense. I have doctors that constantly leave out words and make absolutely no sense with a sentence. What am I a mind reader. Doesn't seem to matter with the paycuts that I have received lately that I am the one making that sentence look like a sentence instead of letting the doctor appear to be an idiot who doesn't know how to talk.

Do you think they would dictated like if dictation was - on their loved one?

fast dictation - have those too

At my last job, had an ESL that no one could understand and I was always given him because I would get all the ESL no one else wanted, I was not paid by line at the time, so I could take my time doing it. He was horrible. UNTIL he was doing a report on a patient that had died and he was in deep trouble and trying to cover his butt. He spoke so clear and enuciated and spoke in a normal speed and I got each and every word without having to repeat a dozen times. So it really can be done. Don't know why they can't be considerate all the time.

Because they are doctors, Considerate does not apply to them. - They think they are above that. nm

I think they should be forced to listen to a days' worth of their own dictations. I wonder what they would think of themselves, and would they be able to understand what they are saying ;) Just my thought for the day.

Does These Numbskulls That Dictate Not Realize, Or Not Care,

that we work on production.  When they start to dictate why can't they have their ducks in a row and just dictate?  Why must they sit and scroll through computer screens or a paper chart?  It makes me want to scream.  Ten-minute dictations that produce 30 lines is totally ridiculous, but until the hospitals and MTSOs stand up for us and put a stop to it, it will keep happening.  Okay, I'm through now.  ...

Holding My Breath
Apr 05, 2013

Okay, the platform was down for a bit this morning but, other than that, I've had enough work for my 4-hour shift. Last week, I had 3 days where the work was light but now it seems to be back to normal. However, I haven't had anything from my 6 backup accts, -- don't know the reason. Now I'm paranoid and find that suspicous. I still don't know if I'm safe or not. Mgr is leaving soon, so maybe they're waiting to clean house in our region at that time. I ...

Ever Realize The First Day A Job Is Not For You?
Jun 01, 2010

Did you ever start a job and realize immediately that it is not the right one for you, that you will be miserable in it? Too many crazy account specifics. Too much bumbling around with the software to get to the actual typing. Too much crap. The thing is, I am so broke beyond belief. But this job is just awful. I am stuck between a rock and a hard place. My goodness, I am so sick of this profession. Sick of taking test after test with company after company and them never responding ba ...

MQ Execs - When Will You Realize That You Have
Mar 08, 2010

The hardest thing for executives to do is to acknowledge the need to take a new direction. Study after study has shown the propensity of the people at the top to fiddle around the edges of failed initiatives trying to "fix" them - but, like Nero, they fiddle while Rome burns. To call Medquist's history "spotty", especially in the area of employee relations, but also with respect to some of it's technology initiatives, would sadly understate the case. This company is very badly ...

Offshore Transcription Stories Wanted- Medical Malpractice Cases Related To Offshore Transcription M
Oct 15, 2009

A legal contact was inquiring about the connection of medical mistakes related to off-shored transcription mistakes.  I have told him to review these boards and hopefully he will benefit from the information here.  While he did not discuss the exact case, I think that he will be able to use the off-shore transcription issue to his client's benefit or at least highlight that the provider in question does not have as rigorous control on processing records as other pr ...

Wow I knew I hated my job, but it is much worse than I thought.  Though I have my resume out to find another job and I pray every night to find one, I feel as though I'd rather be without a job than to continue working for this company which has definitely sucked the life out of me and has taken away my ability to earn a decent living.  How does one work 93 hours and only take home 500 bucks...oh yeah by working for the Q, that's how.  Take an 18 year employee who starte ...

How Will YOU Dictate?
Feb 03, 2010

I see a lot of MTs returning to school and often in the medical profession.  Since the industry seems hell-bent on having all the transcription done in India, will that influence how you nurses and psychologist dictate when it is your turn to dictate, or will you be so relieved to be through with this tragedy that you won't even think about it?  Just wondering.  ...

Do They Realize Making It "mandatory" Will Tick A Lot Of People Off
Mar 16, 2015

This "mandatory" OT is just the type of thing to tip a lot of employees to the breaking point, resulting in some quitting.  This will just cause a cycle and get worse.   I wish businesses were like pirate ships, where if the workers were fed up enough and were to collectively agree, they could mutiny and overthrow the captain, putting one of their own in charge who they believe would do better.  I don't believe there are many of us who could do any worse than MM's curre ...

Where Do Doctors Dictate?
Oct 13, 2011

Ok, I'm curious, but can doctos do their dictations anywhere? A lot of times, I hear a bunch of doctors in like some sort of dictation room. You can hear other doctors doing dications. I just picture a bunch of people in white coats sitting at a desk talking into a phone. lol. Other times it sounds like they're in an emergency room while an emergency is going on. People are asking for things, things are clanging around. Sometimes it sounds like they're in their own home. Had an ...

Is It Just Me Or Is This The New Way To Dictate Dates?
May 16, 2013

More and more frequently, I am getting dictators who say, "the patient underwent the procedure IN 04/11/12" or "the patient underwent the procedure ON April 2012."  It's just a little thing that's kind of annoying because you have to change the IN to ON and vice versa, but it's happening so often, I'm wondering if that's now an acceptable way to say it and I'm just not in the know.  Anyone else get this? ...

Learning To Dictate The RIGHT WAY?

I am an experienced nurse practitioner with seven years of experience. Now that I am working in an acute care environment, I am required to dictact all of my consultations. Of course, I was never taught how to dictate. I was taught how to use the telephone to dictate, but I was never taught the right way to dictate clearly ...
