Seriously, if not, they should.
Some docs just repeatedly have horrible dictations. I'm not talking about accents or anything like that. I'm talking such horrible mumbling it's ridiculous. Or talking to far away from the mic. Or apparently trying to dictate in a hurricane. Or trying to dictate over a crying baby. And on and on.
Once in a while, fine. But when it is constant...when I see that doc's name get pulled up and I instantly know the horror that will soon follow...seriously, they need to know how bad their dications are.
Constructive criticism. Like "hey, could you perhaps enunciate more? Maybe help the MT out on whether you're saying 15 or 50 since those kind of run together?"
or "Next time, could you perhaps get a little closer to the mic. Sometimes it's hard to hear your voice."
Nothing mean, but seriously, when people point out things I do wrong, I learn GREATLY from that, and rarely do it again. I become more conscious of it. As an MT, I'm given this criticism all the time, and I love it. This feedback only makes me better. And if docs got a little note on how to improve their dictating ability, why, the world just may be a happier place.
That is, if they learn to take it with a grain of salt. I'm not trying to tell them how to dictate, but meeting somewhere in the middle will just help us all.
